No info on the actual screen size is given, but at 10' of throw, the size range available to the hoary old X1 was only 66" to 79" diagonal in a 4:3 format. (44" x 58" @ 10' & mid-zoom )
At 10' and 16:9 the image at mid-zoom the image with the 1070 is 52" x 69" however if the zoom is set all the way down a size of 45" x 80" can be obtained.
This is all contingent on the Throw being within 1' either way of 10'...which is totally a unknown factor at present. And...the size of that old screen is the final value that is wholly unknown and cannot be factored in...at all.
The sad part in this all is a dual whammy. No exact details on throw distance and screen size....and no time to really ask for sage advice.blaclk
, you've been a member since 2002...9 months longer than I have, so really....you should know better. The rush is preventing you from making any sort of informed decision, placing you at the mercy of whomever you abruptly chose to do the installation, and you and he are going full speed ahead without either having a clue as to what the issues and possible outcome will entail
Red Flags are waving. The Installer, to have agreed to come over to install a PJ under such circumstances...not even having seen the location....that's crazy, and does not bode well.
You do not mention as to what Mount you chose in the rush....there's that.
You paid for Overnight Delivery...which only means you are willing to spend the extra cash required to be in a rush to be hit with a "This isn't going to work with this Screen...we have to move the mount..or replace the Screen...or the PJ has to be replaced with something else.
Ok...I better stop there...it only gets worse. I hope it's all going to work out...but the odds are not looking good unless your a terror at the Casinos and Rollin' em with all the Chips on the line is your normal way of playing.
Personally, I am sorry that your obvious plea did not elicit a quicker response, but in truth, without any adequate feed-in of information, no one could really advise you in a concise and accurate manner. That probably had much to do with the lack of response. I dwell primarily over on DIY Screens, so my forays onto PJs+/- 3K
are less frequent.
Good Luck in Orlando. At least your in close proximity to the Ocean......there is that. Easy enough to drown your disappointment.
..................or hit Disney World. Some escapism might be in order by later today.
Really though...let us know how it all comes out. We might all be served well by sharing the success that comes with luck in such a obviously uncertain situation....or reminded how such circumstances require at least the most basic level of careful consideration.
