Hello,

I have a Mitsubishi HC4000 that I bought about 16 months ago. It currently has 2200 hours on it, but just yesterday it started periodically producing this subtle strobing or flickering effect, and not 100% of the screen, but maybe 80% of it.
It is really noticeable if I am looking a solid color background, particularly white, as in a blank Word doc.

My understanding was the lamp is supposed to be good for 4000 hours or so, but I also understand that this varies.
I use it practically everyday as both my entertainment hub and my work monitor (though I have a separate proper monitor, so it mostly does entertainment duties).

So I am wondering if this is an indication of it needing lamp replacement or if this might be something more serious.
This is my first projector, so I have really no idea about these things.

Thanks for any help any of you may provide.

Could be the lamp but it depends on if it is a flicker or strobe .. one being more prefect timed than the other..

First off if you use the projector on eco/low lamp mode, put it on high and see if that corrects the issues. If so leave it on high for a week or so and then go back to eco.
The lamp is an arc lamp so electricity jumps a gap between to electrodes to make light. If you get the spark jumping from 2 different places you get a flicker.. running on high will sometimes burn off one of the spots and it goes back to normal.

If high does not fix it after a week, could be a color wheel issue or something electronic..
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply.
I forgot to check back on this to see if anyone replied, but it has been getting worse lately, so just remembered to check this.
Yeah, changing it to normal seems to have corrected it. I will try to change it back to low after a week like you said.

I guess it is more of a strobe as you put it, and the speed or the time between each strobe varies every couple of seconds, then there are patches of time where it is fine too.
Anyway, thanks and will update after a few days or so.
