I am looking into purchasing a projector but am severely scared and confused by the amount of options available. I'm afraid my budget is somewhat limited as I really do not want to go above $800. My primary purpose for a projector is image editing/graphic design, so color accuracy and black levels are pretty important but not super important as I will be doing final edits using a monitor. Basically my plan is to complete about 90% of my work using a projector and then use a monitor for final adjustments to reduce eye strain. If a projector can reproduce about lets say 70% of what I see on my monitor then I'd be happy.
Ability to watch movies/play video would be a nice bonus.
I've researched some options but am still confused whether I should get a LED based projector or a regular one? It seems LED based projectors are not as bright, but I'm still confused about the overall image quality/contrast of the two.
Some other info:
-My room is about 15 feet in length. I was thinking of placing a projector at one end of the room and projecting the image onto an off white wall right across.
-Most likely I will be working in the evenings or late an night so the room will be fairly dark but not pitch black
-My primary reason for switching to a projector is to reduce eye fatigue. I think a lamp based projector would be better suited for this then an LED but I'm somewhat concerned about the lamp replacement costs which appear to be about $150+ for a lamp?
-I plan on using the projector about 5 hours per day on average
Hopefully this covers everything. Sorry if it's a bit confusing, I did try breaking it down into sections
Any advice/suggestions on what to get are greatly appreciated.
