I've had a Sanyo Z3 since they first came out. It was well rated at the time, and we've been pleased with its performance with >3000 hours on it. It's been our primary display for everything from movies, slide shows through standard TV. Unfortunately it's starting to go.
It started with blue snow and shadows a couple of months back, and just this week we had a new yellow/black zone appear in the middle of the the screen (yellow on white, black on blue). Some research indicates that it's probably better to replace / upgrade than to spend money to repair it although I'll likely have the cover off this weekend to try to extend my deadline a bit.
I did a lot of research when I bought the Z3, but haven't been following the industry since. I'd like to replace it with a current model that will mount in the same location. I have about 11' to the screen and about 100" diagonal, but both values can be adjusted. Watching is usually done at night so light control is not an issue.
I currently don't have an HD signal to the projector
but we have plans to change that soon. We are not huge watchers - but do enjoy an hour or so most evenings after the kids have retired.
What are the best models and values out there these days? I'm budget constrained this summer (other large expenses) so I'd like to stay under $1K CDN if I can but that's not a hard line.
Help me spend my money - wisely.
Oh - and if someone needs a working Z3 for parts and an almost new bulb -PM me.
