Here's the question, more details below if you need them
How noticeable is the quality between a TV and a projector? Is movement blurred or resolution lacking? I think my biggest problem is not having a clear example. Which projector should I buy?

How yall doing? So right now I am looking at a budget around 1000$, for just the projector. I have a dedicated room for a TV or a projector. The walls are dark green paint, the floor is newish wood, and the ceiling is white. The 2 windows will be completely covered. I want to watch 3d movies, sports and play ps3 games. The source for all the video will be a computer through HDMI (the radeon hd 6950 seems capable)

Right now I am used to a 40" 1080p LCD. Awkwardly up on the wall and ~10ft away. Running HDMI movies from the computer (yes full quality movies)

To get the same quality as a 1080p 3d hdtv what would I need to pay for the projector? I am comparing to this tv
LG - 50" Class (49-1/2" Diag.) - LED - 1080p - 120Hz - Smart - 3D - HDTV for 900 at Best

I like a lot of pros, the screen being so big ( assuming you can get good quality out of a 100" screen)
projectors are different, fun to have something new like that
I like the 3d HD features with out the mess of wires next to the tv.
portability is a huge plus, in some of the projectors.

as im looking through the forums, this seems to be the most helpful

I'll post more as i find it.

with no trouble you can find a lot of people like the benq w1070, under 900 on amazon. Any reason not to get this?

Generally atm you need to get up to around the $2500 (or more) range for a pj to come close to a tv image. Some strengths and minuses in pj's so you have to pick your strengths and live with the minuses. This Sharp handles fast motion pretty well vs some of the lcds, and would come pretty close to tv image quality. http://www.projectorreviews.com/sharp/xv-z30000/ and it would produce an image alot bigger than your 50" LG. Might want to look into that one?

I bought the W7000, put it 12' away. it projects from a htpc through hmdi onto a 90" screen. I made the screen from 2x4 and ron's budget black out cloth http://www.joann.com/roc-lon-budget-blackout-white-white/zprd_02117232a/

Couldn't be happier with my projector compared to my, 4yr old 1080p LCD tv. The blacks looks better and just as clear. Comparing it also to my computer monitor (ie showing a picture and focusing then moving to video)

Most of the review like to talk about light level and adjusting the color. Found a preset I likes and was allset, to movie and games that I have seen a lot!

w7000 > lcd tv even comparable to my desktop monitor
