The $900 limit is very strict (the couch isn't all that comfortable). I'm totally open to referbs. I'm pulling the trigger later today most likely.

In the running:
BenQ W1070 = Few places have it on sale for $899 with free shipping and no tax.
Referb Epson 8350 = Direct from epson for $899 with free shipping and no tax.

Know of any better options? It will be ceiling mounted and mainly used for football and gaming.

Referb HC4000 will not work, the upward throw on it is too steep.

I think the BenQ is going to be far and away the best option at that price point. The Epson 8350 is 3 years old now...

There is also the HD25e/HD131xe. The HD131xe was going for $769. Also, there is a Viewsonic 7820 which can be had for $700.

I would still stick with the choice I made a year and a half ago. Epson 8350. Great for gaming with low lag, great placement flexibility, really good picture quality (great with Darby), and no rainbow risk. If I were to look for a replacement for the 8350, I would only look for something with significantly better black levels. I don't know of anything near this price range that qualifies AND has all the features that sold me on the 8350 in the first place.

If I could actually see a demo of the BenQ W1070 in operation in my area, and that's not going to happen, it would be on my list.

For my situation (low ceiling) the W1070 or 8350 where really the only options I found. I went ahead an purchased the W1070 from Visual Apex, for $899 w/ Free Shipping, should be here Friday.

A big thanks to everyone in all the under 3k forums for all the input. I'm been reading the forums daily for the past 3 weeks trying to figure this purchase out biggrin.gif
