I've seen a few post of recommended calibration for the BenQ w1070. I'm curious do these vary depending on the type of screen? I'm projecting on a sintra RS-MaxxMudd LL v.2.1 screen and looking for the best settings.

Yes, projector calibrations will vary depending on screen and environment. I recommend just getting a test disc, and go from there. There's even a free one that can be downloaded from these forums.
