I use mine on a stand. Not sure what exactly you want to see though? Just pay attention to the throw distance with them. My projo is about 5' from a 106" screen. It sits about 5 or 6 inches lower than the screen.
I also use mine on a stand. For a long time I was just using a wooden barstool, but with having dogs in the room, I got very nervous about it being knocked over. I had planned on building my own stand and using my Peerless mount on top of the stand to make adjusting easier, but after doing some sketches of the design I wanted I opened up the Ikea catalog...and found something that looked just like my sketches!
I now have the Ikea SELJE nightstand, and plan on eventually bolting my Peerless mount right to the top. The nightstand was very cheap and has outward-angled legs going side-to-side (I was hoping for more of a pyramidal leg orientation, but for the cost I'll take what I can get) and is made of light steel, so modding will be easy. The stand also has a drawer with a slightly shallow back for routing charging (or HDMI/Power) cables into it.
The stand is stable but it is somewhat lightweight, however, the legs are hollow so they could be filled with some sand or even lead shot to make it more bottom-heavy. Below is a link to the Ikea website for the color I have (it's available in white or blue).
For my son's condo livingroom setup I just placed the BenQ 710st on the magazine shelf of his coffee table. 92" picture on the wall from about 4'. Monoprice wireless HDMI extender from the sources on the opposite wall to the table.
