From the research of done, I was pretty set with the BenQ 1070 (which still might be my best bet, I'm just seeing what you're guys' opinion is). I have a 7'4" ceiling, light can be whatever brightness/darkness I want. I can reach the throw of about any projectors. This is my first Projector setup, but I've done my research. I'm really just looking for the best pj at $1,000 or under. 3D does not matter to me, but most come with it. I will be using this for about 60% gaming, 30% movies, 10% satellite.

Please please please either make me feel great about the 1070 or give me some other ideas. tongue.gif

The w1070 is the only one under $1000 that has the combination of being bright in best mode, has some lens shift, and uses an RGBRGB color wheel instead of RGBCYW. RGBRGB is said to provide more accurate colors, if that helps. It's also sharper. The 3D is better on the Optomas possibly since they use RF instead of DLP-Link. I've never seen any of the newer Optomas, but that's what everyone says anyhow.

That said, the Benq is louder than the Optomas and you have to mount it closer. With the low ceilings, the Benq works better due to it having less offset with lens shift.

Awesome. Love the input. It's hard for me to make decisions, I'm thankful you took time to respond.

I saw an Optoma on Woot.com today, I wonder if it's anything close to the BenQ, it's about $730

It will beat the Benq in dark scenes and have better contrast since it has a dynamic IRIS. I do not know which one is sharper. It will also be quieter, but it isn't nearly as bright.

It appears to be sold out.

I do notice that now. I wish I would have researched it rather than asked. I didn't realize the Optoma HD8200 was such an expensive pj. It was refurb for $730 on woot :S
