Hello. My optoma hd65 projector bulb won't light anymore. Everything else turns on and the bulb tries to light but never does. I replaced the bulb and still had same issue. Replaced the lamp ballast last night and still same thing. Could I have just gotten a crappy bulb? Possibly need to replace power supply? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

i have the same problem. Did you ever figure this out? Maybe an internal fuse? Im looking for it now!!!

actually, my bulb died when i barely bumped the projector (not as hard as I have before w no incident over the years). I got a new bulb and as I put in the power cored I didn't realize my hand was also depressing the peer button and so I heard a tiny noise and sure enough the new bulb was blown!

So I got a second replacement bulb today and installed it properly and then very gingerly turned on the unit. Nothin, Nada, Zilch. and the bulb looks fine!! AAaaargh. frown.gif

Sounds like what I'm going through. I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Unfortunately, all of our HD65's are probably about the same age....

Unhappy no internal fuse

i took mine apart and googled and googled until I finally found a post somewhere from a guy saying there is no internal fuse and that a problem like our's is probably a bad motherboard (= time to buy new projector).

that's what I did.

and even funnier (cuz if you don't laugh you may cry) I THINK they post I referred to was on this site. I think it was in reference to a guy that had a prob like this with another model Optoma...

One more thing to try: when fully closed the lamp door pushes a failsafe pressure switch. Some time back the plastic at the screwhole on mine cracked just enough that the door was no longer pressing the switch with enough pressure, and I was getting a similar symptom. To test, examine the door to make sure there isn't a broken pin, and then set the projector on a couple of books so you can access the door, turn it on, and then press the door in by hand; if the projectoir comes on and lights up, you've traced the problem to this door.

Drove me nuts until I discovered the problem. The permanent fix involved a bit of epoxy
