I just got a 4030 installed yesterday, and coming from a 7 year old unprocessed 720p Optoma, I am completely pleased with it so far. Out of the box, and running through an Oppo BDP-103, a quick calibration with the Spears & Munsil Blu-ray showed that all values were only a click or two off. Of course I'll do a more complete calibration after a hundred hours or so. For my situation, the upgrade to the 4030 gave me an obviously noticeable improvement , even to my wife, who couldn't care less about specifics, but got a "Damn, that's a nice picture", which is as good as I'll get. The "free" extra lamp, a Chief ceiling mount, and Epson's 3 year return policy made it worth the slight step down in contrast from the Home Cinema line. Plus, the black case just looks better in my room.

Does anyone else have this unit? Any advice on tweaking it out? How do you like it so far?

How are you liking it a few days later? I'm curious about the included Chief ceiling mount - can you provide a model number or description/picture? How much would it cost if not included (trying to do a price comparison to the Epson 5030)?

Edit: expanded on question

I can't find much review regarding this 4030 (or 7200 in UK market) on the internet.
How's the black level of Epson's 4030 vs Panasonic's PT-AE8000? There's no UB (UltraBlack) moniker on this 4030.

According to Art Feierman over at projectorreviews.com, you should expect something on par with last year's 5020UB (in other words, very good):

I'm highly considering this to replace my aging Sony Cineza HS20.

How is console gaming on this? I am really very close to ordering one, but need to make sure gaming is ok (coming from a lag-free DLP). Still need to decide between this one and the 5030 (TW9200 in EU). But for the price I would pay for the 7200, it seems an amazing deal especially knowing I'll have a lot more freedom in placement.

I snagged one the other day to replace my old Sony HS20 (still gives hell of a picture IMHO).

Great picture. Nice black projector. PIP (via 2 HDMIs). Quiet. The mount that comes along is very nice and sturdy. Love that is has a door that closes over the lens when not in use.
