Is it better to have the projector right over my head - w1070 at 10' - 11'
or have the projector about 1/2 way between me and the screen w1080st at 5' - 6' ?

BenQ W1070 - DENON AVR-E400 7.1 - SLS Q-Line Gold - Hsu VTF-2 MK4

My choice would be overhead. I run my W1070 right overhead with a 9 foot ceiling. It hangs down about 10 inches so it's about 8 feet up and I don't have any problem with noise or anything while watching movies. If it were out in front of me, i'd pay attention to it while I'm watching movies, but that's just me.

If you aren't limited by space with the screen size you need, I don't really see a need to buy a short throw projector. I guess a better question would the W1070 throw the size picture you want in your given space. If so, I would go that route.

The W1070 will throw at least a 120" picture in the size room you have.

Projector: Benq W1070 1080p 2D/3D
Screen: 120" Elite fixed frame
AVR: Onkyo TX-NR809
Mains: Klipsch RF-62ii x 2
Center: Klipsch RC-62ii
Surrounds: Klipsch RS-42ii x 2
Subs: Dual Hsu VTF-15H's
Sonos-Play 5 and Play 3
Sony Playstation 4
Microsoft Xbox One

Thank you
My concern was noise right above the seats, but like you, I did not want to see the projector hanging in front of me either. Looks like I've decided thank you smile.gif

Edit: my screen is going to be around 110" so I should be good to go
