Not sure if the word "official" in the title was to be added by me (the thread-starter) or that is declared by the mods....

Alright guys,if you own this unit, please post some shots at night and during the day so we can better understand how bright or dim this unit is. I'm purchasing a projector this week and I've narrowed it down between this omer and the epson 3020.

Authorized resellers can sell the HC8000. I think that ANY online retailer is allowed to sell the HC7900. That was supposed to be one distiction between the two models. I'm not sure this person at Mitsubishi was perfectly clear on the difference.

Could ANYONE please post a list of online places in the US that they are buying from.

Only CEDIA dealers [like the store associated with AVS Forum] can sell the HC8000.

Anyone can sell the HC7900 BUT you only get the warranty if its sold by a dealer that Mitsubishi considers authorized.
B&H, in spite of being one of the largest AV retailers in NA, is not considered an authorised retailer as far as Mitusbishi is concerned, so I would double-check before I bought anything from somewhere else.

Thanks in advance.

I just got a reply from Mitsubishi support, they do provide warranty for BH as long as it is sold new, not refurb.

That makes sense. This projector is sold through "distribution". The end dealer does not have to "register" with the manufacturer.

I was looking at the Mitts web sight for this projector and it showed it had a large 25" offset with only an 8" lens shift. I this is true than anyone with an 8' ceiling would be projecting very close to the floor making this projector very useless for lower ceilings. Also does anyone know if the 3D port is a VESA port and if any compatible emitter can be used.

Smart enough to know better, to old to care

That's a bunch of jumbo gumbo to me, I have a lower ceiling, I'm hoping for 100'.
When I comes I'll just be holding it up pointing it all over the room until I figure out where it's going to go

My method is VERY VERY scientific have you know,

worst comes to worst it gets sent back and then onto plan B

Spoke to a sales rep from BH. They no longer include the 3D emitter with the projector. They don't carry the emitter anymore so you can't even buy it from them.

It isn't VESA, but you can connect to VESA by modifying the cable: http://www.cine4home.de/tests/projektoren/Mitsubishi_HC7800/Brillen/HC7800%20Brillen.htm
