upgrading from my hd1000u, what a great projector, and I have a few questions

is the 131xe a bright projector, brighter than my hd1000u? I am projecting a 137 inch diagonal 16:9 screen

I was going between it and the w1070 but I have an 18 foot throw distance so I do not believe it will work for me.

I saw on projector central that the w1070 does 1080p 60hz but the 131xe only does 1080p 24hz is this an issue? Is there other projectors I should be looking at?

Use is mostly movies and TV (some sports) but I want it to work great for games on the consoles too. I will be using my PS3 for blu ray playback will upgrade to a ps4 when it has some games I want to play.

I want to stay DLP btw

Absolutely FALSE. This projector does 1080p 60hz as I use it with my HTPC and my Playstation 3 at 60hz all the damn time. LOL.

Current HT setup:

Samsung UN65F6300 65" LCD HDTV, Polk CS20 Center, 2x Polk Monitor 75T Fronts, 2x Polk TSI300 Backs, Polk PSW110 Subwoofer.

excellent, I was hoping it was a mistake, but I couldn't find anything to dispute it.

for my screen size and throw should I be considering the 25lv or just stick with the 131 xe and save the $300. I am guessing the 131xe will be way brighter than my hd1000u? I use a light controlled room but screwed up and painted my ceiling and doors white, walls are cherry color.

Looking at Projector Central's Calculator @ http://www.projectorcentral.com/Mitsubishi-HD1000U-projection-calculator-pro.htm

The HD1000u puts out a 13fL picture on a 137" screen at 18 ft...

And, actually neither the HD131Xe nor the HD25-LV can project a 137" screen at 18ft... they can only do that at 14'11" - 17' 11".

I suppose 17'11 is close enough to 18', though? I don't know. However, the HD131Xe at 17'11 projecting to 137" gives you about 18fL, which is a pretty big difference between 13fL from the HD1000u.

The HD25-LV gives you 23fL at that distance.

Both the HD131Xe and the HD25-LV will also be on minimum zoom when projecting the 137" image at that distance...

Current HT setup:

Samsung UN65F6300 65" LCD HDTV, Polk CS20 Center, 2x Polk Monitor 75T Fronts, 2x Polk TSI300 Backs, Polk PSW110 Subwoofer.

Just an FYI, if you ever want the details of any projector, look at the User Manual.

http://www.optomausa.com/webresources/files/support/2265_HD131Xe_UM.pdf

Page 60 lists over 30 accepted HDMI formats, including 1080p/60.

Of course, 3D at 1080p 60 is not a standard 3D format at this time and isn't accepted, but that's not what you asked about.

its 17'7 to the lens of the projector, so I am in range, barely...

I had not noticed the fL rating on the calculator thanks! I will try the 131xe and save the $300+. the hd1000u brightness was adequate but had that extra pop with a new bulb and I always run it on high, I have used only 2 bulbs, they have been used way past their suggested hours.

Thanks for the help, I hope to see a decent upgrade, though I have always been very happy with the hd1000u
