I am considering buying the Viewsonic PJD7820HD but have seen several complains about its IR remote control sensor, stating that you have to point the remote control directly at the projector in order to turn it on/off. I am planning to use a smart Logitech remote to turn on all my components (projector, receiver, satellite box, Blue-ray) with one click and I don't want the projector to fall out of this sequence due to it's poor sensor. Has anybody experienced this issue with this projector? Any input would be much appreciated.

Alfonso

Yep I have seen it as well. I often have to press the power button multiple times before it turns on. At first I thought it was just me, but my wife also has complained about it.

I'm not using a Harmony, so I can't comment on whether or not it will cause you issues. I don't know if it's the IR receiver or the cheap remote that's the problem.

Thanks. This is helpful! Has anyone used this projector with a decent remote?

The IR sensor itself is sensitive. I've used it with the 520 and the 650 and it works every time I hit the "Watch Movie" activity.

Granted the bundled remote is crap.

Thank you, nxsfan. One more thing... I will be pointing my remote to my components, which are in front of me, expecting that the projector (mounted on the ceiling right above me) will also turn on/off. Is this similar to your configuration or are you pointing your remote right at the front of the projector?

My setup is very similar and I don't make any concerted effort to point the Harmony at the projector. It should work fine for you.
