In all the research I am doing for the Epson 5030, I keep seeing DLA-X35 mentioned.

Does anyone know how these really compare in real life situations?
I would like to have 3D for my daughter, is the Epson really that much better at 3D?

This will be my first projector. For now, I would like to have decent 3D, and then a nice bright, clear, dark blacks picture for normal viewing (2D).

Maybe you should try posting in the forum where these projectors are actually discussed.

Perhaps this will help.

The 5030 and X35/RS46 are discussed here all the time, but a good link to some information.

I've seen the AE8000 and the RS46 and I can say that hands down the RS46 is a very good looking projector. It is the one I would buy right now if I was in the market around $3,000. I would get it over the AE8000 or the 5030. I have seen the 5030, but not in ideal situations, so I can't say how much better than the AE8000 it is, but I can tell you that the RS46 is significantly better than the AE8000. The black levels are the real takeaway on this. It just looks amazing. So amazing that I have no idea why anyone would choose the other models other than price. But, considering the RS46/X35 is available for about $2,600, it's just way to close to give that cash up.

I've seen the RS46 on a 133" diagonal 1.4 gain screen in 3D and it was as good an image overall as any of the other 3D projectors I had seen to that point including the 5020.
