Long throw, small screen, bright room options?
I'm looking for modestly-priced options for a projector that will work with some mounting constraints. I'm losing my media room to the kids and have to compromise for a video solution.
I've got a spot that will fit an 84" screen nicely, can't go much bigger. I'm pre-wired for a projector mount with about 16' throw. There's too many windows, and the light will not be controlled much. I had been looking at the Optoma HD25e or BenQ W1070 which have good brightness, but looks like they needed to be mounted much closer than I can accommodate.
The only option I can see is the Epson 8350 for that screen size at that throw distance, but sounds like I'll take a hit in brightness and possibly image quality while paying more (I'm also losing 3D, but I can live without that).
Should I just go with the 8350? Will it be bright enough on a small screen at that distance? Do I need to consider a gray screen for better contrast in a light room?
Any feedback is appreciated!
