$75 would be more like it.. The color wheels tend to fail on the 1500. If it were the HC3000 I would say that price is still about $50 to high but still worth $175 if that is you price point. I paid $175 for an HC3000 used over 5years ago. Still won't part with it, I hold on to it for some later use as it had a very good picture and is very quite.
Offer them $75 and pay no more than $100 for the HC1500 Assuming there is NO color wheel whine..

Just remember "value" is market driven.. you got the money, they got the goods.. if someone else feels it is worth more than they will get the goods.. AND the person selling will normally think things are worth much more than they are, especially if there is no Blue Book, or easy way to see what other exact items sold for. For projectors looking at sold listing on ebay is the only way to get a rough idea of the market.
If you do an advance search on ebay for Sold items and put in HC1500 Recently units went for $100+ and $170. Just keep that in mind. When buying anything used, the buy is in the drivers seat but the market and available buyers drive the price. Well and also the sellers need for money can play a big part as well.
Good luck!
