what do you have , how big and how far?

So I thought this would be interesting and educational for all of us new and old. Alot of this information will help me and others I am sure when it comes to how big a screen people can use, with where they sit and how bright their projectors are and so on. It answers alot of questions at once.

What projector do you have?
How far back do you have it mounted from the screen, shelf or ceiling?
How far back do you sit from the screen?
And what size screen do you have? and please list 16:9 or 2:35:1
Also feel free to include pics as well.

Thank you for your information. I think it will be cool as well, we just need to get the ball rolling and hope others will join in. And it does not matter how much your projector cost.

I have the BenQ W1070 which I enjoy on a 161" screen. The projector is about 16' away, and that's about the same distance that I view from. 16:9 aspect ratio on this setup.

Dark-room: P300(~135lumen 800x1200 LED) tripod/shelf-mounted 12ft from a 117" 16:9 painted-on screen (also 8.5ft wide 2.39 CIW with masking).
Seating has eyes about 8ft back from the screen, but gets moved backwards to 9ft during particularly shaky movies.
About 3.4ftL brightness in a completely light-controlled room.

Family room: PA75u(~400lumen 800x1200 LED) shelf-mounted 11ft from a 2:1/48x96" (used as a 110" 16:9 with top/bottom cropped).
Seating has eyes about 8.5ft back from screen.
About 8.9ftL brightness in a white walls/ceiling room with lights on, NOT facing the screen.

Simple <$250 dedicated black-fabric theater room, build in a day, takedown in an hour.
Easy $25-40 DIY black/dark-grey ambient-light rejecting screen, grab two things from a local store..mix..roll..done.

None taken, I was surprised how well these particular models compared side-by-side when I had my w1070. While the Benq looked better than everything else I'd tried (including the hd131xe), the level of improvement over these two couldn't quite justify the price and couple disadvantages for me.
IF I'd only owned one AND the w1070 had been available to me for $750-800 I'd have likely kept it, but having it as a third and selling one of these to "make room"..I just couldn't.
Still, as soon as $3000+ happens my way it's JVC time, no question.

Fun thread, I'll play. My room is 10x14, converted extra bedroom into Theater room.

What projector do you have? 2014 Epson Home Cinema 2000
How far back do you have it mounted from the screen, shelf or ceiling? 13' back, PJ mounted on high shelf on backwall
How far back do you sit from the screen? 8-10' depending on position of the recliners
And what size screen do you have? Carls DIY cloth screen, 120" 16:9

What projector do you have?
ProjectionDesign F3 SXGA+ with EN15 Lens. A December 2004 high end dual lamp single chip darkchip 3 projector claiming upto 7500:1 native contrast or up to 5500 Lumens. Bought second hand for £200.

How far back do you have it mounted from the screen, shelf or ceiling?
137" shelf mounted, on top of a cupboard, with some vertical lens shift enabled. Some vertical lens shift seems to improve contrast.

How far back do you sit from the screen?
114" (one times screen width(width not diagonal) field of view is a bit larger due to curved screen)

And what size screen do you have? and please list 16:9 or 2:35:1
143"diagonal 4:3 on to a DIY curved screen.
equivalent to 131" 16:9, 124" 2.35:1
The screen sizes above do not take into account the curve.

Projecting using single lamp mode at 86% lamp power with the iris stepped down a bit. Could go far larger if I had the room. But, currently am using the entire rear wall of the room as a screen. Room is a batcave light controlled and coloured black.

Optoma HD25E
120" fixed screen 16:9 Visual Apex fixed
Projector about 13' 6" away from screen
Ceiling mounted with Peerless mount. Lens pretty much centered with top edge of screen (usually HD25Es are supposed to have 9" of offset, but that position resulted in no keystone effect, and, no, I'm not using projector digital keystoning)
Seating position about 12' 6" from screen

The size of the screen and speakers makes the room look small until you look at the pictures of the seating and realize it was an illusion. That's a huge room.
