Bought a used Projector, it's got issues

Hi,

I bought a used Epson EH-TW3200 Projector yesterday.

Hooked it up for the first time today, and I notice that on the right side I have a blue-ish glow and on the left side there is a faint red-ish glow.
I then put some Black and white squares up and noticed that there were thin lines of different colors on all the edges of the black squares.

Tried resizing, and moving the image around on the wall, but it remains the same.
Tried taking the bulb out and putting it back in, no change.

From what I could gather from the interwebs, Left/right side glows are because of heat damaged polarizer filters and top/bottomn glow is because of unaligned bulb?
might be the other way around?

Is this someting I can fix or should I return the projector? The guy I bought it from lives 3hrs away, inc. ferry, I have tried to contact him, but he hasn't answered...
thing cost me 800USD, 1015hrs used including 90" screen, (1290USD new).

Return the projector. The convergence is out of alignment. You cannot fix this.

Alignment is pretty good, looks like polarizer is going out from the screenshot. Can you return it?

talked to the seller today, its a private person, not a retailer.

He says he did not have these issues before he sold it to me, and blames it on my drive home...

It was sitting in the original box with the "yellow cushion" on the lense and was not skidding around in the car while I was driving.
These things get shipped all over the world, it should handle a drive home, no?

Planning to give Epson a call tomorrow(Monday) and hear what they have to say.

Asked the seller for the receipt, he would look for it and take a picture to send me.
In Norway we have 5yrs "complaint-warranty" , normal warranty = 1-3 yrs from Retailer , "Complaint-warranty= retailer -> 5yrs Manufacturer.

Only exception on projectors is the bulbs, which this one seems fine.

If it is as unfixable as you say, and the retailer or manufacturer cant help me, and the seller wont refund me, I guess I will have to take it to the Norwegian Consumer Council.

I'm hopeful that you can quickly resolve this dilemma you're in, Norlig. I don't believe for a second that this problem developed on the drive home.
Unfortunately, this perfectly shows the danger of buying a used projector.

not Ebay, but Finn.no , but they are sort of the same.

I did give them a call and they told me to take it to the Norwegian Consumer Council.

Called Epson Today.

The Projector is still under warranty, they will pick it up from my house, ship it to England and have it fixed, no charge

Happy ending!
