Unhappy BenQ HT1075 Interference Noise?

Hey guys

Long time lurker, first time poster here.

Have had my BenQ HT1075 for a few months now with zero problems. Today I turned it on and while it's displaying a picture it has a "flickering" whine/noise like someone is constantly flicking through the pages of a book. It's definitely not the fan because it's coming from the other side of the unit near the lens.

I've taken a video of the projector (turn up your sound) so you can hear it in action. Any ideas? I'm completely stumped - primarily because it has been working just fine. (Okay so I can't post links apparently: dropbox .com/s/yd37dufju3cew7h/VID_20150516_113650.mp4?dl=0

Unplugging the HDMI cable instantly stops the noise, and when plugging it back in the noise only starts when it begins to display a picture from the PC (via HDMI) regardless of what's displaying on the PC. The internal interface where you select a source does not create any noise. I tried changing the resolution and refresh rate on the PC before - didn't make any difference.

For reference I'm using a 10m 'high-speed' HDMI cable from a PC, which is running at 1920x1080 at 60hz. As I say up until today the entire set up worked fine.

Have you tried dropping the volume in the unit (or plugging in headphones) to rule out the internal speakers? And does it happen with a different source?

If so, then it's the fan (or possibly the color wheel if it stops without an input; but fans are dependent on projected brightness and lower when there's no source).
There're four fans in total (front exhaust; two intakes on the side; one within the unit itself): the one on the side sounds like it's failing. Return to sender and have it swapped out in either case if you can rule out the source.
