What causes scanlines? I've read it is inherent in the LCD technology, but I can see scanlines or something like it on my computer when I watch a DVD on my CRT monitor (XGA res.).

Also, why does it not seem to be a problem with DLP projector (or at least I haven't read that it has been)?

Can good scaler reduce scanlines? I would think a progressive signal would reduce or eliminate them greatly.
