Epson 2040 vs Epson 1040 vs Optoma hd26 or hd28dse

well not sure what way to go, do I go dlp or 3 lcd? I really wonder if the 3 chips is better then the one, I do know on a camera there is no comparison between 3ccd's and 1 ccd. I know the 1040 does not have 3d, its not a deal breaker though

If you don't have the room and budget to get a 3-chipper in the $1700-2000+ range, single-chip DLP is going to give you the best picture for your money.
Specifically RGB DLP like the Benq w1070 or 1075 or 2050, or the Vivitek 1186..some of which are available new for $500-600.

Simple <$250 dedicated black-fabric theater room, build in a day, takedown in an hour.
Easy $25-40 DIY black/dark-grey ambient-light rejecting screen, grab two things from a local store..mix..roll..done.
