5025 blacks without iris

Can anyone comment on the black levels of the 5025 without the iris? Good? Ok? How does it compare to the Sony 40es' black levels. I know it can be blacker with the iris, that's why I'm asking specifically without. Thanks.

Yeah, sound and vision measures the 5030/5025 at ~4500:1 with the iris off. Wire Cutter measured the 40es at 5151:1. At $1,599 currently for the 5025 though, that's a tough call.

The black levels on the Epson are noticeably darker than the 40. The contrast being close between them shows that the Epson has deeper blacks because in their respective best mode the 40 is almost twice as bright so its black level is almost twice as much as the Epson. Each projectors has its pros and cons, they are booth good projectors pick the one that best suits your situation.
