I remember when I went shopping for my HD25 a year ago. I had done a ton of research and had come to the conclusion that I missed the boat on dlp projectors with a dynamic iris. The Mits hc7900 and Optoma hd 8200/8300 had all sold out at rock bottom prices, and I was expected to pay the same amount for something evidently inferior.
So I did what any sane projector shopper would do, I bought the cheapest thing on the market because there was nothing better in the higher end dlp market, how sad is that?
Have things changed at all? Is there a dlp out there now that can match the blazing low input lag of the Optoma Hd25 along with superior contrast? The other option is to move to an Lcd, but I've yet to see anything with better overall contrast that doesn't double the 17ms input lag of the Optoma, and nothing seems to offer the fine detail/ansi contrast that dlp is known for, that which sends many an Lcos projector owner running back to a good dlp.
I'm tired of maintaining my peace with the display industry in general. We're still suffering through lcds, when oleds could be built for far less if companies had any incentive to do so, one of the best flat panel display techs (plasma) was killed off by general consumer ignorance, when will the madness end?
Not until we speak up and demand competency, stand with me av brothers and sisters, the next display I buy better be worth it, it's time for us to stop settling for almost as good as what we already had 6 years ago.
