Unhappy Is my Epson 8345 dead?

As of last night, out of the blue and with no warning, my 8345 has stopped working. When I turn it on, the fan starts, but no light ever comes out. Looking in through the lens, I can see the EPSON of the normal bootup logo flash on and off intermittently for a bit, and then nothing.

I tried reseating the lamp, but I don't know of any other 'do it yourself' tricks to try to figure out what's gone wrong. Does anyone have any advice, or do i have to take it in for repairs?

It could just be a dead lamp. Do you get any indicator lights on the LEDs that flash or glow in any particular pattern? If you do, check what that represents in the owner's manual.

Wow, it never occured to me that a lamp would spontaneously stop working like that, but I just plugged in my old dim one and boom, it works fine. So you're right, new lamp just died for no reason. Does this happen often? I've never seen it in 15 years of using projectors.

Fingers crossed the seller will offer some support, but of course they claim a 180 day warrantee and it's been 7 months, natch...

Thanks for the advice!

With that kind of warranty I'm curious - was this an after-market brand or an Epson OEM lamp.
