trying to get a feeling when the dealers will have this in stock again. My HT dealer in sudbury MA has no ship date yet.

Thought it may be interesting to see when others are beginning to get these in again

You may want to check into the Matinee 2HD (same as the Z2) from Studio Experience. I ordered mine in mid December and got it before new years. That shipment may be sold out though.

My buddy ordered a Z2 from Alliant this week, they told him hopefully by end of month. I see the 2HD online showing instock, but I don't know if that's accurate.

I ordered mine Dec 21st from projector center and they said they are getting a shipment in next week and my unit is in this lot. They told me that Sanyo US/Can is fighting with Sanyo Europe over the units........

Local electronics store, the only local one to carry Sanyo projectors, said it would be February, maybe march, before he could get one for me. I had already decided to purchase a HS20 before he contacted me.

Seems there were a bunch of us ordering from Quebec A. on the Dec 1st weekend (me too). Six weeks of waiting is a bit crazy, not to mention that the US/Cdn $ exchange alone should have dropped the price by close to $100Cdn by now (though no reason to drop the price if the is a huge backorder...) I don't really blame Q.A., it is Sanyo that can't hit a delivery date.

There is a vague promise from Sanyo of shipping a "present" with the unit as a reward for waiting, but I would just like to see the unit before it is completely out-of-date technology. Maybe they are retrofitting the units with HDMI ports instead of the obsolete DVI port!

Rod.

Hey KornBiz, I ordered my 2HD about early December. I was told it would ship that week, then the end of December, then this Friday. I have yet to get a confirmation. But they were quick to charge my credit card. I'm thinking of canceling mine and looking into the a BenQ PE7800 depending on the price.

Pitou,

Why are you considering cancelling ?? Did you give a deposit ??

rrempel,

Yeah, it would be nice for Sanyo to make sure that the new batch is up to date with their latest revision of hardware (not that I know any issue). I also wonder what is the "token of appreciation" that they mention...

Yes I gave a deposit, but now it's taking too long to get it.

I guess Q. A. can credit the amount.

Anyway I'll see next week, since it'll open.

I have paid in full and was expecting my 2HD to ship this past week but after talking with corporate at SE I am told they have NO more pj's shipping and several people have been inquiring like me about their alloted pj ship date. They said that dealers have oversold. I was also then called by the SE sales rep (to my reseller) who is at CES and promised to call me on Monday with an update (I was out and she left a VM). She was nice enough to leave her cell # but I won't bother her at CES.

Anyone else unable to account for their "allocated" 2HD?

I bought mine directly from Japan for well below 2k including shipping. I ordered it at 2:30am (impulse buy) on Monday and received it 10:30am on Wednesday morning. Talk about service! Those Japs (not meant as a racial slur) are quick :)

The package arrived without a dent wrapped externally in bubble wrap. The only difference between my Z2 and the US Z2 is mine had Japanese as the default language (changed it to English) and you need a D4 to Component cable for the Component input. I ordered one from my dealer too. Works GREAT!

All in all, for my first International purchase, it was awesome.

Have fun waiting for your US model. I'm going to watch the NFL playoffs in HD on my new Z2

I have my theater all setup sans projector. Its like buying a new car with no engine in it. I'm dying!

I wonder if anyone that attended the CES spoke to Sanyo and asked about the problem with getting units here in the US?

SE purchased the minimum qty. from Sanyo to OEM the product. The count was 75. They currently are sold out of them and do not plan to buy more from Sanyo. The pricing on the 2HD is a bit higher than the Z2, but comes with a better warranty (customer service) and 120 day lamp warranty, versus the 90 days standard with Sanyo.

Jeff,

So does this mean you've decided to not keep it for yourself? :)

Welcome to the forum (by the way).

Don't suppose you went to CES this past weekend?

I am hoping for someone to post an overview of what went on for those of us stuck to our computers at work.

Actually, I am really torn.....I don't know whether to keep it or not. One thing is for sure....this website is the most extensive I've found. I am very impressed.

Wasn't able to get out to V-town. Wish I could have though. Friend of mine will be back this week to fill me in.

I think I can't wait for next week. I am going to shoot out a new thead and ask for observations.

I've been following the projector industry for years and this is the best site i've seen....by far too.

Hi all,

Next Sanyo shipment to NA arrives January 26, 2004 according to my vendor. That date comes from Sanyo so unless your supplier has it on the shelf there are none till the 26th. Mine has been on order since Dec 15

I am confused, Sanyo's warranty is 3years and so is SE's? The lamp is better the warranty is the same? Or am I missing something?

SE's lamp warranty is 120 days vs Sanyo's 90. SE also has a better pixel warranty. SE has a very good reputation for customer service.

I checked the SE website and the 2HD listed for 40% more than the street price of the Z2. Customer service must include a super model coming to your house to set it up to justify that price.

I want a Masquerade.

You have to realize that SE purchases them from Sanyo at a standard dealer cost, hence the price to dealers is more than Sanyo's price to dealers, as it is already marked up. SE has a better dead pixel policy and by far a better customer service program than Sanyo.

I attached the pixel policy........
