My HD1000U just arrived. I am floored.
My blackout curtains haven't arrived yet and I am waiting to order the screen until I figure out what image size I want to use, so I am in a room with a lot of ambient light, projecting on a peach wall.
Wow. It is bright, with beautiful contrast and nice whites, even under these conditions. I can't wait to get a more optimal setup. I've been playing some life-size Wii Tennis and Zelda and watching bits of movies. I haven't even tried out HD content yet, but it is on its way.
Another bit that impressed me is when I plugged it into my Mac Mini HTPC, it automatically calibrated itself to the right resolution, and even had a "HD1000" Color profile. Everything seems to be amazing, right out of the box. I will be doing the AVIA later on, but I can't imagine doing much aside from minor tweaks.
Thanks, guys. All the time spent on here is paying off in spades. Before I found this forum, I was about to buy an Epson 716 for about the same price. Whew, that was a close one.
