We have all seen many many owner reviews of the HD70, but I have yet to see one of the HD1000. I ordered mine the other day and will receive it on the 28th, but in the mean time I want to know other owners opinions on it so I can live vicariously through them until I get my own. Much appreciated.
i really think if your getting that its just from source.i have a hlp4663 dlp samsung and an xbr4 lcd an on certain hd channels from cablebox i get the artifacts digital blocks on certain shows and games as well as i have once in awhile on the projector but ive never gotten it on a movie through my ps3 or a hd game like i said i think its just the source causing it as its happend on all 3 of my hd displays
Video games have no video compression to introduce artifacts/noise etc, into the source like HD content has from cable/sat providers. A good video processor will help clean up the PQ.
I have had some blurriness during football games, but I attribute that to the signal not to the display..........
This weekend though I did have an issue with Meet the Robinson's... I have tons of artifacts through the movie when played on my HD1000... especially bad in the Dino scenes. I do not know if it is an issue with the Mits or if it might be a problem with my Toshiba HD-A1... although I have never had this issue prior to this movie.
I did try the movie in my wife's Vizio/Oppo combo and it played without artifacts.
I have really enjoyed the 1500. I was concerned b/c it is a DLP, but while demoing it at a display, then getting it home, I've been quite pleased. I've only noticed jaggies once while my kids were watching "Cars." Beyond that, I'm very happy, especially since I tend to be rainbow sensitive (yes, I can see them when I try, but they don't seem to cause the eye strain that other DLPs do.)
Im thinking about getting the hd1000 but was wondering about the bulb life. We watch tv alot and didnt really want to be buying bulbs every year or two.
Has anyone had issues with the bulbs? I would probably use it 3 or 4 hours a day mon-fri and alot more on weekends.
Is it possible to upgrade the HD1000U firmware, if so, how, and how do I tell the current version of the firmware? I've never been able to get my harmony remote to handle the double-off keypress yet I saw a post that there's a menu option to disable the 2nd keypress - perhaps that is in a more current version of the firmware.

That's about my usage pattern (maybe a little more) and I'm still on my original bulb at over 2000 hours. But honestly - expect to buy a bulb at least every couple years. Just factor that into the cost of the setup. Skip one dine out at a fast food restaurant each week and the bulb is paid for.
One issue I've found with Mits projectors is that when the input changes, including when an active input goes dead ( like when your harmony turns off the current source device ) the projector is 'blind' to IR commands for quite a few seconds. What I've found is that it doesn't miss the 2nd off press from the Harmony, but rather the first.
The way I fixed it in the Harmony setup is selecting 'settings' for the HD1000, going into 'settings', selecting 'device delays', then setting the Inter-Device delay to 4000ms.
jrwhite: Thanks, the first keypress makes it because I get the confirmation message, but I'll experiment some more. 4 sec is a long time, by then the remote may have been tossed into a seat.
Well, I haven't visited this site much since I got my HD1000U setup and working, but it's approaching 2000 hours and I want to buy a replacement bulb soon. I don't want to be without TV!
I have searched the site and it doesn't look like there's much info on where to buy a replacement bulb. Where do you buy them? I searched pricegrabber.com and didn't find anything.
Sorry if this kind of thing is well-known, but any help would be appreciated.
You'll get the same confirmation message if it only gets the 2nd keystroke, as it's the same 'off' command. Yes, 4 seconds is a long time. The default is 1500ms, so you might try 500ms increments.
I ended up writing my own PIC based controller to send the IR macros, and this is where I noticed that it was missing the 1st not the 2nd press. What also might work is trying to re-order the turn-off harmony sequence so the projector is turned off before the current device. The key thing to remember is that when you change sources, or get the 'no signal' menu, the Mits is blind to IR for several seconds after that.
1. I'm looking to purchase a new HDMI Receiver (Onkyo 875 ??) and HDDVD player (A2 ??) to match up with my HD1000. The receiver will need to have 2 HDMI in (DVD player and cable). Any suggestions ?? I'm not clear on how good the scallers etc. in the PJ are. I've had my HD1000 for 9 months and love it.
2. Where to buy a replacement Bulb ???
3. Considering DTV but cannot get locals stations HD and the DTV receiver they offer (HR21) will not accept an OTA antenna ??? Will have to stay with Comcast unless someone has another suggestion.
I have an Onkyo 803 receiver and it is great! I went with it over the 804 due to humm issues that I read bout on these forums. Not sure how much power you need (want), but it puts out plenty for me and at half the cost or less than the 875. It has 2 HDMI inputs and one out. I use the Toshiba RD-xs52 DVD recorder with just standard cable in and the Toshiba upconverts it to 720p or 1080i and puts it out on HDMI into my Mits HD1000U projector. I have also played Wii games on the projector using the composite inputs on the DVD recorder and again it just sends the signal to the projector via HDMI. Awesome setup and bang for the buck! Sometimes being the newest, doesn't necessarily mean the best for the user. I did a lot of research on these forums, and it was time well spent and money well saved!
How is the HT1500(HD1000) compared to the NEC HT1000?
My HT1000 is about to kick the bucket after 4 years (and 2 bulb replacements) and it was time to upgrade. So after reading through this thread I picked up the HT1500.
Try Projector People. They are very good and reliable. Won't try to sell you an upgrade or tell you that yours doesn't come with a manual or other such nonsense. Use the coupon code save50 and take off another 50 bucks. I bought my mits 1000 from them earlier this year and found them to be very responsive when FedEX had transposed two digits in my zip code.
