I managed to download the free bulb rebate form before it was taken down. The form says that the deal is good through the end of December. Anyone have a clue if Mitsubishi will still honor it if I use the right form?

That free bulb kinda makes the deal to me.

I suggest you assume you will *not* get the free lamp. I place the free lamp deal (with the projector's new low price) under the heading "too good to be true."

That said, I did send in the form and I have my fingers crossed.

That free bulb kinda makes the deal to me.

They changed the promotional period the day the new price went into effect. On the rebate form I sent in it said 10/01/06-11/20/06 (11/20 being the first day of the new price.) Apparently if your projector wasn't purchased inbetween these days your out of luck. And even if you projector was purchased between these days-your also probably out of luck.

Here's the form

Just as a follow up... when I placed the order with projector people in Tampa, I discussed the November move by Mitsubishi. The dealer's take was the same as here. Send in the original form and give it a shot. She also confided that there was some contention between the distributer and the supplier over the way this was handled. And that even if Mitsubishi was legally entitled to do this, it was unethical to pull the offer as they did.

I wonder if it wouldn't be useful to try to draw up a grass-roots support for them to come through. There has to be more than a handful of us that are in the same boat.

I think over at fatwallet, they might call it the fat wallet effect. ;^)

The company I purchased my projector from still has this on their website, along with a link to the December ending rebate:

GET A FREE REPLACEMENT LAMP COUPON FROM MITSUBISHI WHEN YOU PURCHASE THIS ITEM FROM PAGE COMPUTER. PLEASE READ MANUFACTURER'S GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS TO QUALIFY FOR THIS PROMO. REBATE EXPIRES 12/31/2006

As they advertised this as such, if Mits doesn't come through, I will certainly be expecting a lamp from the company I purchased the projector from.

My point is that the dealer is using the rebate to promote the product sale - "REBATE EXPIRES 12/31/2006 " is stated in bold on the web page fo rthe product. I would expect the dealer to stand by this for their customer, and deal with Mits themselves.

I understand, but in my case, I downloaded the rebate while I was shopping for a projector. The rebate said I had until the end of the year to buy it. So I waited until after I got paid in December.

How unfair is that then that I get screwed because I chose to trust them at their word and plan my purchase within the time they originally stated?

I think the underlying point here is that they may have every right to. But if you were shopping and planning your purchase in good faith as I did, it's a pretty lousy move from a corp pr standpoint.

The lower price is considered a special deal and the rebate is not valid with any other special deals.

However - when I purchased the projector, the free lamp deal was a deal maker - I had no knowledge of a "special lower price".

My case, too. I didn't know anything about it being a special price. I got it for the price I was quoted when I started looking in November.

I'll keep my hopes up. I read through the releases now about employee pricing through the holidays and all the other press releases. there was no specific statement about canceling the bulb rebate program.

Your lack of knowlege is not a valid argument as the deal says it can change any time without notice.

I have a feeling this is exactly why Mitsubishi is calling this "special employee pricing until 12/31/06" I did not see that terminology for the first few days after the price drop. This brings in the "not applicable with any other offers" clause and gives them a valid reason to deny the free bulb. I plan to send my form in (printed before 11/20) but I don't expect to get the bulb.

I've had the HD1000 up and in place now since Friday.

Wow.

Very stunning image. I'm quite impressed.

Sent in the bulb form. I'll let you all know what I hear.

Wow, the price has really dropped on this unit lately. I got curious after reading this thread and did a bit of research. It looks like great unit.

I got my HD1000U in today and it looks like it shipped directly from Mitsu themselves... I am certainly going to try and apply for this deal!

ok, I can't believe it. I'm totally sold on Mitsubishi now. A week or so after I sent in my rebate form I received a "sorry" letter because the offer had ended 11/20, even though my form said through 12/31.

I just chaulked it up as 'oh well.'

Today, when I got home from work there was a second letter from the big M. They'd evidently reconsidered. It was my coupon for a backup bulb!

YeeHa! I got an HD1000U for $860, sold my InFocus X1 for $300, and got a back up bulb to boot. All in all, not a bad birthday present!

BIG KUDOS to Mitsubishi. Talk about building customer loyalty!

Congrats on this awesome deal. An excellent PJ for net of $860-400 for bulb coupon=$460. Mits probably realized that they created the confusion by switching the PDF deadline midstream so they rather give the free bulb than create bad press and lose potential customer base long term (not to mention, being in suit happy country where there are more lawyers than roaches, class action?)

Yeah. I am so pumped right now I'm ready to explode. I'd been waiting on a high-def player, waiting and watching the blu ray vs hd war. But now I'm able to rethink that. Perhaps I'll just go plop the bucks down on a PS3.

woo woo!

The finger crossing seems to have worked, I also received the free lamp coupon after receiving what I interpreted as a rejection letter. Not only am I very impressed with the projector, I will look at Mitsubishi's offerings very favorably when it comes time to upgrade.

No surprise that Page Computer lied. Check out their resellerating:

Their six-month customer satisfaction rating is 3.17/10.
