...setting it up in the garage to use for the occasional movie or ball game. This is the closest I can come to having a room to dedicate to a home theater. Our 54" LCD tv gets the real work out in the living room.

But the PH530 still works pretty well. Still need to run my center channel speaker and run coax to my dtv to finish out my little home theater in a garage project.

Anyone else still using their PH530?

I am, almost daily and often for 1-3 hours while my wife and I wind down and watch TV or movies in the evening. Mine also wanted to shut down after a while, might have been about a year ago. I think it was either overheating, or it thought it was overheating. Went down to eco mode and it will run for hours now, and really the difference is minimal, you still have to control the light with the thing. Using on a 100" pull down screen.

I am looking at replacing it with a Epson 8350 here when I decide to spend the money, brighter, step up in pic quality, etc.

I'd go with the econo mode, but the lumens on this thing are already so low. Hoping this new bulb will fix the problem. 3 1/2 years on one bulb is pretty good though.

I'd like to upgrade to a 1080p projector for around $800 or less within the year. Any suggestions? Wonder how much I could sell the Acer for?

I think I could get $300 out of my Acer, it shows a pretty nice, big picture, just requires a pretty dark room. I'd still mess with the eco mode, just adjust the settings and you can get it pretty close to the same. You are correct though, you will lose some light, but worth a try to see if that fixes it anyway. It sounds like if it is still running in an hour you found your problem.

Welp, from the sounds of my wife staying at home with my son this summer. I think our PH530 just bit the big one. I'll have to check it out when I get home, but she said as soon as she hits power on the remote, the fan mode kicks in and it's acting like it was just shut down.. no picture, no light.. any ideas? is this a sign of the bulb being finally dead? or are we in colorwheel problem territory?

If she is dead, I'll certainly scrap her out for parts to anyone needing some things.. Does anyone still have a need for a remote?, etc?

Alright. So the verdict from my last post was that she still had some life in her. We used the acer for probably another 300-400 hours since then with no probs. Then tonight she bit it hard. The color wheel is busted from the sound of it. As soon as it started up, there was a loud pop, and then a loud humming of the wheel. It still projects an image though. No problem there. And the bulb is still working.

Pretty crazy that the colorwheel had a problem before my first bulb blew. And that was something to the tune of 20k hours on one bulb!!

Anyway. My main reason for the final update, is to let everyone know I'm parting the projector out if anyone wants it. Remote is still perfectly normal, maybe someone could fix the colorwheel and replace the bulb. I'm open to offers if anyone wants it.
