I hate football. I didn't even know who was playing until recently.

I had a great superbowl party with everyone commending me on my setup. I have a townhouse with multiple levels and everyone had a great view. Especially the call challenges, It seemed pretty obvious the first time whether or not the calls were valid ( this could be due to bad refereeing but I like to think it was because of the clarity and size of the picture).

The HD70 is my first projector. I will Never go back to TV again. I'll just invest more in Light control. Where I live I dont keep my blinds open anyway due to neighbors. So I figure my next place will have a dedicated room.

Thank You affordable under 3k projector...

The problem with a dedicated room is you'll NEVER leave that room.

Luckily I've got a bathroom right off my dedicated theater room.

Seriously. I don't leave my room for HOURS! It's really bad, and if I didn't work out like a maniac, I'd probably be extremely fat.

"Welcome to the club. We've got jackets."

Now you do realise "never go back" really means 'the hunt for Nirvana has just begun', don't you?

I don't have a dedicated HT room (it's also my living room - useable due to a 106" pull-down screen). I still don't leave my HT/LR for hours, when the PJ is on . It also helps to have a good 5.1 channel surround sound system (built up over the last 25 years - my sub-woofer and L/R speakers are the oldest). I can't seem to find the time to install the 2 rear channel speakers, so I can have a 7.1 channel system (now that I have a 7.1 channel receiver, a newer DVD player, and HD satellite service + a new rooftop UHF antenna) .

It also helps to have a partner that shares our enthusiasm (the L/R speakers are hers - JBL L86's which I had re-coned).

CMRA -- We do ? You're definitely correct about the "Nirvana" bit .

Sorry for the excessive use of "smilies", but I just couldn't resist.

Heh! I feel about the same when it comes to football, although I do like to watch the Superbowl sometimes. This year I have a brand-new projector, but no TV tuner connected to it (I doubt I'll even bother), so I started watching the game on a little 13" set. At some point during the first half, I looked up & noticed that the sun had gone down, so I said, "The hell with this noise!" Off went the TV, on went the PJ, and I was up till the wee hours watching DVDs!

Man, I heard that. I had to try 3 different projectors before I ended up with one I was happy with, but I knew as soon as I had the first one in here - there's no going back. These little boxes certainly have their quirks, and they may not be for everyone, but I like to tinker anyway. And that big beautiful picture is certainly worth it!
