price japan just changed the status of the TW2000 to back-ordered and available within 10-12 days. I received mail yesterday that my unit would be shipped on 5th dec. Let s not hope my unit will be shipped later......

Any guys here who also pre-ordered the TW2000 with Price Japan and heard news from them about a delay with shipping time?

I see, I was not aware of that. I saw no mention of that in any of Epson's warranty literature...

Still, even if the TW2000 is slightly worse than the AE2000, buying the TW2000 from Japan at a higher price and supposedly only 1 year warranty (in contrast to the rest of the world where it sells with two years international warranty), is far from ideal.[/quote]

Price and warranty aside, if the TW2000 is worse than the AE2000 then buying it at all would not make much sense unless it was a better fit for one's particular setup. Either way we are both guessing at this point.

Remember, there are plenty of AE2000 owners out there who "gambled" on it before seeing how it performs against the TW2000, and I don't think any of them are regretting it Getting the TW2000 now, before any official/expert reviews, isn't much more of a gamble IMHO.

The AE2000 in the US cost less than the TW2000 in Japan. Second, in the US you can take the AE2000 with two years warranty, while in Japan you supposedly take the TW2000 with only one year (not to mention you have to send the projector to Japan for repairs, and if PriceJap goes out of business, you're doomed). So no, buying the TW2000 today from Japan is much more of a gamble.

I'm pretty sure in the next following days Epson will announce the TW2000 is the US, for $2699 (or less), with two years international warranty.

Agreed, which I why I said (twice) that, pricing & warranty aside, the TW2000 should still shape up to be a very good pj. I was focusing more on the pj itself rather than the "deal."

You might get a PM from someone, but generally p-r-i-c-e-j-a-p-a-n doesn't get much discussion on the threads. Aside from being frowned upon by the AVS forum because it undercuts the channels (and the people who "staff" them), I don't think too many members take the chance.

I looked at that site but the Panny 2000U I just purchased is $500 dollars more than here in the US. So what's the benefit I would think when the TW2000 hits our shores it will be less than what you paid.

Wow, I haven't seen people so upset with someone elses purchase in a long time! I am not sure why people see such a need to continually cap on his purchase choice. If he wants it this week instead of 3-4 weeks from now, I say more power to him. Just make sure to post a review! =)

Hopefully they fixed the Rainbow colored text problem I had with the 1080P Home Cinema unit I sent back twice.

I was just trying to warn him of the problems with his new purchase, and I hope people will do the same for me, when needed. The final choice is of course his, and I'll be happy to read his review too.

They showed "Briliant Cinema" mode vs a different mode. They've said that while Brilliant cinema was much more punchy, it also lost many details to black (black crush).

Now I only wish that the Epson TW2000 will indeed be $2699 or less. It looks like something I can live with for years !

Pricing info should be released before the week is over, so what do you guys think, $2,500 - $2,750 - >$3,000 (for the home version)?

Well, I have been looking at getting the AE-2000 for a little while now. I will more than likely buy something by the end of January. Hopefully by then the Epson will be out and these two will be priced competitively against each other.

Is it possible either of these will be priced more competitively by late January. I bet they will.

The rate at which these prices drop always has you second guessing. I'm ready to upgrade, got the wife buy-in, but my z2 has reached the bottom of it's depreciation for all purposes and thus the longer I keep it the better the prices and technology of my upgrade. Given I have questions with the life of the polarizers I'd like to wait unit I can get a bright 1080P DLP with lens shift for $2000. Decisions decisions...

We can wait and wait for technology to get better. You could wait for years in hopes of the best bang for the buck, with the attitude that something is going to be just around the corner that will be the latst greatest. I believe the best bang for the buck right now is the 2000. Sure there will be incrementally better pj's a year from now. I have no doubt the AE-3000 will be slightly better. There are shortcomings with any projector at any price point. There was a big improvement between the AE-1000 and the 2000. That is what I was hoping for so I am going to pull the trigger sometime around the end of January.

Well, I own the original 1080 and I have to say if this new one is too expensive, you would never be unhappy with the original 1080, I am so happy with it..it's a beauty!

Have Projectorcentral or ProjectorReviews reviewed this yet? Has anyone credible reviewed it, and are there any reviews comparing it to the other <$3000 street price projectors?

The TW2000 model number is not related to Home versus Pro models. The Home Cinema 1080 and Pro Cinema 1080 (non-UB models) are both the EMP-TW1000. The actual difference is in firmware and that a couple of accessories come with the Pro Cinema 1080.

Just received confirmation from Epson (I am a dealer) that the Home 1080 UB will list at $2999 and the Pro 1080 UB will be $3999.

The pro, as usual, comes with a ceiling mount and extra bulb. Shipping is expected on the 19th, as in today!
