Kudos for the effort S.Puppy.

You could post your shots to photobucket, and see how they come out there.

Are you pausing the shot?

Sometimes I'll use the night shot mode, and of course no flash.

I also use a 2 second delay.

What are your surroundings like? White walls, ceiling?

I'm pausing for the shot and just using "no flash" mode. The screen wall is painted a flat dark brown, ceilings and side walls are a deep cream color. I'm getting a lot of light reflection off the ceiling and side walls. My house is currently up for sale; if it wasn't I then paint them a nice flat, dark paint.

I'll be messing with the camera some more, then post them up on Photo bucket; stay tuned!

Cheers,
JD

I've only run one sd-dvd on it, that was Cars. I posted it up as a screen shot, but forgot to mention that it wasn't Hi-Def. I was impressed by how the PS3 and Ax-200 delivered the picture.

I'm a bit put out actually about the dvd quality...I was hoping for better...I find it annoying to watch. Maybe 106 " is too big?
Maybe the A2 doesn't upconvert thru the pj the way it should?
Some dvd's look like HD on the 50" Sony SXRD...They look a bit crappy thru the PJ!

Close up shots are good but anything that's slighty background seem to have an "effect" around it?!

What DVD player were you using? Does it upconvert?

he's using the Toshiba A2, which is a superior HD-DVD player....and is known for SD upconversion...I think. I knowthe XA1 and XA2 are known for that with REON chip processing.

Not seeing the PJ at all, at some screen size I'd assume SD-DVDs aregoing to look bad..don't know..

I'll take a look at some SD-DVDs and get back to you guys today. Also, I'll be playing with the camera to try and get more accurate shots, then post them up on Photobucket.

Guys I'm sry I'm gonna have to take a step back and admit something...the sd dvd's I was refering to are actually compressed copies. My bad...however even though the real dvd's aren't nice like the HD stuff...they look a lot better than the compressed crap!

This projector is going to force a tough decision for me when my AE900 lamp goes (currently at ~2300 hours). I am very satisfied with the AE900, but a $350 lamp vs. a new $1300 AX200 (maybe less in a few months) is a close call. I have a batcave, but with a 142" screen, the extra lumens can't hurt.

What kind of tuning do you use with AX200 or are you just satisfied with factory calibration?
First view with SD-DVD,Ghostrider looked nice .Second movie (old SD-DVD) Fifth Element didnot look so nice .My dvd (old Panasonic) is not upscaling ,gives only progresive out.

There is some "dynamic" sharpness going on in the 200 if you look at the PDF/power point release panasonic did on the AX200...

Excellent job Sick Puppy. Can you pull the camera out a little bit so we can see the full image (including black on the sides)?

Thanks, it's still a work in progress. The black bars on scope movies are not what I would call REALLY black; but they do not detract from the presentation.
