If you're really trying for a fake-out eye-candy shot, let a little black clip on the camera as well as a little white and crank the sharpness a little..it'll still look muted and grainy in person, but better in the shot.
If you want an actual honest picture, you'll have to raise brightness until the camera sees the black-level that you normally see with your eyes and then lower contrast until it isn't clipped..then make sure white-balance is set on the camera to show what you see. You might also have to boost or cut color intensity somewhat to compensate for any boost/cut the camera shows.
