I hope so Ubuntu is a very workable OS, there are just a few things missing to make it great. Driver support is a big one, companies like amd need to give linux the same level of driver support as windows. Maybe steam's incluence can pull this off making linux a more complete OS.

The e350 doesn't have enough cpu to pull this off, so it must be somewhat successfully offloading to the graphics.

IIRC, it has the OpenELEC 2.0 Fusion build on it. AFAIK, that supports GPU acceleration with AMD. It definitely would not work otherwise, agreed.

An 5800k apu is pointless energywise(100w apu)...5700k much better heatwise(65w apu) and does it equally as good.

Im currently playing 26gb mkv files on the latest Ubuntu with 5450 512mb ddr3 and a 905e phenom II... (4x2,5ghz 65w) The sound problem i dont notice, using optic out from the motherboard. Now i know you guys probarbly use much more energy effecient hardware than i do. But it playes smooth.. now i was wondering, with the motion de-interlace... isn't it a player feature ? Say like vlc got gpu acceleration checked. Well, sry if im sticking my nose into places where it dont belong biggrin.gif Good thread, interesting reading + have a nice day smile.gif
