JRiver Media Center is amazing on Windows.
I have used it since v12 (now 19). I now do music, movies, TV and photos with it.
It is the one reason my HTPCs are still Windows machines...
I am using a big mother of a Linux file server for my movies (fire up only for movies through WOL and remote shutdown), an always on Win8 running JRiver Media Server (a part of Media Center) holding music, photos and TV PVR (I am OTA), and small diskless HTPCs (Intel NUCs mostly) on each TV in the house.
Is it free ? No, but licensing is generous, as you only have to buy a single licence for all the PCs in your house (one licence per OS though). Their forums are very active and they listen to their customers. I have seen cases where one comment was placed one day and the next day the feature was available !
There is about one major version release a year, half price if you have purchased any previous version. And all minor releases are free updates.
Once the Linux version is on par with the Windows version on the video side of the business, bye bye M$, constant updates and patches, viruses and what not !
Many thanks to you Jim and to your team !
