Hi I am so linux inlliterate. Not to mention I have bad grammer and poor spelling :D Anywho, I have this eee pc that a tenent left behind and has no plans on coming to get it. It currently has win xp on it and since its not suported anymore figured I would play with it and see if I could use it for surging the web, watching youtube and posting to ebay while I sit out back and listen to the birds. Being a windows person for so vary long this will be my first attemtpt or adventure into the linux world. I have no idea what version of linux would be best for it or how I would go about installing it since it dosnt seem to have any card to it that I guess came with it when it was first purchased. I am assuming I would have to use a usb stick and run linux from that stick or install it from the stick but again I have no idea on how to go about doing that.
Any suggestions or direction would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

For that kind of hardware and what you're looking to do, Peppermint may be the OS for you.

Does that machine have a DVD drive? Can you boot from USB?

No dvd drive :( its got this big sqaure hole in the side of it I am assuing thats for a rather outa date and big sdcard wich i dont have. My only option from what i have read so far is to install onto a usb drive or use the usb drive to install the op. idk for sure tho i am just guessing.

here is the link to the rig

Most Linux distros have options for how you want to install. You can install alongside Windows, or you can overwrite Windows and just use Linux.

Installing from USB is an option if the machine allows for it. You might have to configure the BIOS to do it, or maybe not. Depends. Either way, make a bootable USB stick and install from that.

Probably. Without seeing the BIOS it's only a guess, but a pretty good one.
