Hey,

LIRC is a Linux Infared Package which supports IRMAN as well as other popular remote controls and also supports DIY Recievers that can be made cheap.

I like the X10 Anywhere remotes as they are RF. Here is the Linux code to it including XMMS plugin:

The ATI Remote Wonder behaves like an X10 Anywhere remote and is also supported by Linux. The driver to support it (it's a USB device) is available from the same guys who did GATO.

So this will be Linux's Girder at least until Ago pushes the unified framework system to include IR !!!
