Compli-blu - Got one. I was going to install it in a customer's sytem, but my customer is in Europe for two weeks so we put it in our system to break it in for him. JVC HD-750, CB-III w/ Six Shooter. Picture is impeccable just as is the Oppo. Sound, out of the box sucked. Strident highs, one dimensional. I now have about 140 hrs. on it and, starting to sound real nice. Smooth, dynamic, three dimensional. It has a nice bite on the leading edge of transients without sounding harsh or unnatural. We're now going to compare it to our Elite BDP-09FD. Stay tuned.

OK - I am tuned in. Too bad you don't have a Marantz UD9004 to compare!

In addition to the analog shootout, it would be interesting to do an HDMI transport shootout (using a standard Oppo and the Pioneer for comparison). One early user claimed the Compli BR sounded better as an HDMI transport, while reviewers like Kal (as far as I'm aware) have never heard an HDMI transport that sounded better than the standard Oppo.

Another intersting comparison would be the Compli BR against the Oppo SE, or Nuforce - both are less than half the price, but use the superior DACs.

Ed, I've installed all the SE's I've had my hands on so I can't do a comparison now. Don't have HDMI audio in the Reference System either. Not much help, am I? I can say that this thing is a lot better than the Stock Oppo for analogue audio. As for the 09FD, still evaluating. Norm

Too bad indeed. If you want to visit with the M, call me.
I'll be at Sky Harbor on Sunday for about 20 minutes on my way to a pre-wire in Arkansas, but alas, not enough time to get to Gilbert. Norm

Sounds like we'll have to wait for the CBIII HDMI upgrade for the mother of all shootouts to happen. This would tell us all at once which is the best sounding architecture (i.e. analog or HDMI), and which is the best sounding player. Looking forward to the Pioneer / Compli matchup though - keep us posted. I recall one commentator mentioning the Compli smoking the Pioneer, but that was over HDMI....

I think that was a late April Fool's joke that the dude even had the Compli Blu. Norm really has it!

I'm intrigued by this piece, although worry a bit that firmware upgrades will be much slower than the ones directly from Oppo (I think I read somewhere than you canno tuse the Oppo firmware upgrades; have to wait for the Theta version). Also, the Oppo does peridiodically freeze up (requiring you to uplug the unit), so it'll be interesting to see if that is fixed in this unit.

Certainty and conviction are a sure sign you don't know what you're talking about! The world is not black and white, rather shades of grey!

Here. The major difference between the Compli Blu is the power supply. I'll dig up some more.

Never become so involved with something that it blinds you.

Great forensics. Devastating now evidence! Evidence of what exactly I'm not sure, but I'm sure it proves some point.
