The cabinets are finished and are now standing in my apartment waiting for the internal parts. Some smaller stone pieces remaines to make. But the risky parts of this project are behind med now.

What are the dimensions? How tall is the man in the photo and how tall is the cabinet? It looks like a small building.

The i64s is 159 cm high, that would be around 62,6 inches.

Sound and video is not magic, it is pure physics. Physics that can be magical

These are now playing.

I will return and write some more when I have finished the bass system and have had time to listen thoroughly to the system. Hopefully NIN74 and Hevi can give you their opinions too at that time.

Well one thing is for sure, not very likely that thieves will ever carry them off. . Maybe the OPer should consider some subs like these http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...tone+subwoofer to go with his speakers.

The system is completed. The only thing left are the feet.

The stone speakers are powered by bridged O&G Engineering RS2000. A new actor on the market. They have a quite massive 2kW output and combined with the 92dB senivity of the speakers I feel confident that the amps will never clip.

http://www.og-engineering.se/Amplifier.aspx

And the four bass modules, with eight 12"woofers are powered by two NAD208THX.

I am using an Emotiva XDA-1 as pre amp for the moment, but I am not satisfied with it and have ordered a Emotiva UMC-1 wich allowes me to use the DAC in my Pioneer DV668 instead and is the first step towards a more-than-two-channels system.

---

Anyway. I am completely satisfied with this system in this room. As everyone else I would gladly have more subwoofers, but it wouldn't look good, so I will save that sound enhancement for my next living.

----

I hope you enjoy these pictures anyway.

@Komorok, in my book, you've just officially passed the bar for beeing one of few "craftsmen" that actually qualify for the title without quotation marks (and comming from a boat building family myself that counts for a lot. The stonework skill level required, and the finish of the cabinets as presented by the closeup photos looks absolutely top notch).

As you mention, these speakers really deserve a dedicated room to perform at their full potential, but juding the photos, you got plenty of time to move up the property ladder .

Keep up the good work and if we meet over a beer and I can get you drunk enough I might just order some custom stonework from you for my new living space...

Komorok,

Simply beautiful craftsmanship. The speakers are truly works of art!

Congratulations on a wonderful accomplishment.

Thank you sierraalphahotel. This sound system is a sort of art installation for me and my wife. I can't take credit for the design of these speakers but I can tell you that I fell in love with it the first time I saw it. I never thought that I would have the possibility to own them myself. But sometimes dreams do come true.

@Hevi: The beer is already in the refrigerator. Where are you?

---

I found a few pics showing the passive filter.

Nice!

May I suggest you consider a projector and ceiling mounted electric screen, perhaps as wide as the space between the subs; it's amazing how a bigger image makes the sound bigger as well.

@jjaymz: Well... no. But you can visit me and bring some beer if you like.

@NIN74: I think your listening room is to small

@Noah Katz: It is a good suggestion Noah. But I am not sure I really want that. I mostly listen to music and like my living room to be light and eerrh.. well light. I don't have the space to conceal neither black draperies everywhere or the huge basstraps which I would need to allow for a bigger bass system (which I don't have space to roam) that would be nessessairy for a room as large as this so for now I think my smaller room (below) just has to be enough for movies for now. When I move to a bigger place I will build a home cinema based on the i68es-s system though.

---

This room is a acoustics experiment for me. I learn and I build stuff here. A multi purpose room. It will never be finished and will never be shiny clean. But it is OK to watch some movies here. The screen is a 79" motorized Kingpinscreen, but I have Seymoure AV's screenmaterial on rolls that will allow me to build a wall to wall screen. I have to get my thumb out of my ***.

Komorok,

Yes, light control in that room would be a complex endeavour; you're a good candidate for a Black Diamond screen.

Not sure what a screen has to do with more bass; I was referring to the subwoofers you already have.

The bass/screen has to do with capacity demands for movies. I don't think my system has enough capacity to reproduce movie sound. For movies I want my system to go psychoacoustically straight down to 10Hz (at least) at some kind of reference level. My smaller system can do that in the small room it is located in but my bigger cannot do that even in the big room even though it has twice the capacity of the smaller system.

There are some more issues that has lead to the decision to not have a screen in the livingroom though, but I don't really see the point of writing them here. The decision has already been made. I bide my time...

I hope I am not sounding irritated or short in some way. I try my best to find the right words and add the small touches to my sentences but english doesn't come easy to me anymore

PS. I visited a home cinema store today and the acctually had the black diamond screen for demo. That screen is SICK !

This system has played for almost a year now and I noticed quite fast that I preferred watching movies using the big system som i sold the smaller one and focused all effort on the bigger system. One more thing I noticed was that the bass system had no problem handling infra bass in movies on the levels I prefer watching movies but the levels I listen to music containing infra bass caused the system to bottom out if I was not careful. So I designed a new system three times as big as the old one using the same w121 subwoofer. Hopefully this system will start playing in a few months.
