Does anybody know of any place to purchase a replacement lamp for a Qualia 004? (It's Sony part #LMP-H700.)

I'm still getting delivery dates from Sony, but after spending some time on the phone with them, I suspect the part is no longer available.

As far as I can tell, the last ship of the Qualia 004 was June 2006, which means Sony supported a $30K projector for less than 5 years.

Keep in mind Japan was devistated with the earthquake and sunami. Even the plants and warehouses that were not directly damaged may still be without power and utilities.

I can tell you getting any parts out of Japan right now is sketchy.

There is a bulb placed that stocked this bulb. Atlas Bulb. It was around $700

You can find the bulb at lots of on-line web sites (for between $2200 and $3000), but nobody stocks a $2500.00 lamp, which means they all re-order it from Sony.

Anyway, I'm looking for "verified sightings", if you will.

I called these guys and they stocked it for about $700 3 years ago. Same bulb but no chassis (keep your current one). Phone: 1-813-238-6481. Verified by me. Likely, they still have it. It was a Cermax 700W Xenon. THe same bulb Sony OEM'd.

At $2200, I'd still say it's not horrible unless you are using your projector for hours per day. I had my Qualia 004 for almost 4 years years and had about 700 hours on the bulb when I sold it. Great machine!

Also, do a search. Someone here did a thread on how to insert the bulb into the chassis. If your bulb is shot, I'd remove it and send it to Atlas bulb to verify things (though they did so over the phone for me) and see if they might insert it into the chassis or have further instructions to do so.

A lot of info here:

I did buy a bulb from Atlas. I kept it in storage and am now going to use it. Hopefully, it would work fine.
I have an email out to them to see what the price is for my spare.
Wondering if there are any other less expensive options for these bulbs.
Thanks
