I do realize where I am posting this (i.e. over $20k gear:) but was wondering...for a (somewhat) budget minded person, what would be the most effective way to get into D-Box?

Not really sure what angle (and budget) your coming from on your question, but here's my stab at it...

IMHO the most bang for the buck is putting a loveseat with reclining seats on a SRP-230 platform and a PC controller (you provide a basic PC). Call a D-box dealer for current pricing.

But on a serious note, you should discuss this with a D-box dealer, because each of the D-box systems have pros and cons.

Hope this was the kind of feedback you were looking for.

So budget solution will have MSRP of $8700?
Can it be used while playing DTS-MA or Dolby-TrueHD soundtrack?

Yes and yes. Keep in mind that is MSRP and it can be had for less. Also, keep in mind how many chairs you want to have D-Box and weight limits.

How many chairs do you already own? Are they connected? Are they curved? How many rows? How many in each row? How well are they built (can they handle the intense vibrations and motion)?

I agree with the PC Controller versus the standalone regardless if you’re looking on a budget, unless you just want to have it installed and forget about it. The PC controller gets your more flexibility and if there is an update the controllers, the upgrade cost will be far less.

Tell us what you have (current seating and BD/DVD Player) and what you want (how many chairs with MFX, 2-axis or 3-axis) and we can provide some good insight.
