Not my year to go, so what's the news coming out from the better manufacturers?

There are more than a handful of [op amps] that sound so good that most designers want to be using them as opposed to discreet transistors. Dave Reich, Theta 2009

I'm still vacillating on a Trinnov / TEQ for my ADA.

Has anyone heard it, compared it to DIRAC or any newcomers. The 3D remapping makes it of more interest me than the DIRAc but I'm still a bit curious of the latter.

I have had the trinnov mc on my crm4 and heard Dirac in the Rs20i at Genesis.

Both are stunning room correction systems. But without hearing dirac ( rs20i ) in my own room I will reserve my judgment.

But from what I did hear of Dirac. When switch on and off, well, the difference was massive. And the room was a proper dedicated, acoustically designed and built cinema room. Without Dirac the centre dialogue seemed muffled and everything just kind of mushy.

Engage dirac and speakers vanish, dialogue is crystal clear and the bass response, tightness and slam was very imprssive. But that is one area I really rate the trinnov, it bass ( sub ) handling abilities are just awesom. If I do not get an rs20i or a Trinnov MC I would get a trinnov st2 purely for sub control and eq alone. In a heart beat.

Wish I could have attended Cedia. But alas the UK show was canceled this year.

Its too early for rumors. The show doesn't open 6 1/2 days. smile.gif I don't think much is coming this year in the plus $20K arena but I am sure Digital Projection and Sim2 will have some new high end projectors but no rumors at all out there, so who knows. I will post Thursday night though I will be on AV Science booth duty for one half day on Thursday. Come by and say hello. We will be operating out of the Darbeevision booth.

Hey Mark,

I'm gonna miss you guys this year. As I have one graduating high school this year and one after her, I'm feeling the need to be around more as the house will soon start emptying.

The good news HT wise is I think we are going to downsize our home after the two older girls leave which will open up a whole new build thread for me in our next place:D!! That is if I have any money left with two in college and one other in private school.

Best to you (and to good health)!

Damn that sounds familiar. I'm getting my ass kicked just like you. I am not a fan of it...........

Thankfully the wife and kids are doing OK. Glad to hear yours are as well. I saw some nice cheap houses over the border. I just might snag one up to relieve the pressure. smile.gif

I have an RS20i setup in my dedicated room with triad speakers (7.1 for now) and Pro Amps by Crown and QSC. I moved a Marantz 7005 out to accomodate the RS20i. I have run Dirac, and setup additional filters for my room. If you'd like specifics on my thoughts, go ahead and shoot me a PM.

Best,

I saw over in the $3k forum that Sim2 announced new projectors. Cinema 90 & 100, slotted in above the Teatro line.

CR is listed as >10k:1.
5.5k - 8k lumens for the 90 depending on lens.
7k - 10k lumens for the 100 depending on lens.

In addition to the increased brightness & CR over the Teatro line the cinima includes 3D support (144fps) and built in image processing.

I wonder what's up with the 90 and 100. The 80 was way too loud with the after thought fan on the back not to mention the panels were off on two models I saw too much to be acceptable. These are listed as over 90,000 USD.
