No, Atmos was promised long ago but has not been delivered on the XMC-1 yet. I was told that the development of Atmos for the XMC will not continue until the RMC-1 is released.

I took out my Atmos expansion card and checked the DSPs for you: ADSP-21489 x2 and one ADSP-21487. There is also a XILINX Spartan XC3S50A chip on the expansion card.

For the DACs, I can't tell, I would have to unscrew the housing and I can see a lot of screws.

I guess this is what you guys are talking about - lots of promises but slow delivery, lol. I haven't been following the Emo threads but it was a while ago that the atmos upgrade was announced.

Still, if it does come out soon it will be a good option for 7.2.4

What would be a fair asking price used?

Atmos/DTS X Card. No AURO.
HDMI 2.0a
16 Channel
Cedia 2016 Demo model - Some minor cosmetic issues on the top of the unit, hidden if rack mounted.
I think you will have to ask again once the RMC-1 is available as the RS20 should have expanded capabilities by then.

And I would like to add, that an SSP, which sounds good on paper must not sound as good as an RS20 in real. There is and will always be a difference by the number of DSPs inside of the SSPs - alone from the price point of view. I would recommend to wait for the final product and then listen and check and then decide.

My Datasat is up for sale in the classifieds if anyone is interested. Although most of you likely own one already.

What are you going to utilize as your SSP in the meantime (6-12 months)?

I would buy this from you if I only had a larger room. It will sell quickly on Audiogon.

Was going to use a Marantz 7704 in the meanwhile. And use the remaining money for the RMC-1 and a small start of what I need for D-Box Motion seats.

Yep, I own one and would never sell it. But good for you, it will free a lot of money for you. Where ever your focus is, good for you. Personally, I would never put my hopes on equipment that doesn't exist yet. But at the end, it is your choice and I respect it.

I no longer say, as it relates to this hobby: "I will never" since about 3 years ago I said I was finished upgrading and ended up replacing 90% of my system, room treatment products excepted.

That said, I can see no reason I would ever sell the RS20i. I am confident that should I ever decide I really need more speakers, Datasat will eventually provide a way to do that.

Yep, I am guilty of those very same last words! My original system I started on 3 years ago is now downstairs in the den.

About the only way to stop the upgrading is to stop reading audio/video forums, never visit another a/v store, never visit a friend who just go a new "widget", never read another a/v magazine, never read any article or headline that has anything to do with audio or video.

I'm not even sure that will help!!!

Well, I accept this but currently and for the next years, I don't see anything to achieve than more speakers, regarding the RS20i. And, I see this limited because 7.2.4 gives me enough fun for 3D audio tracks, if they are mixed the right way, making use of the format. But, I initially agree with your point: Don't say never again regarding home cinema. I agree

Somebody might want to jump on this quickly before SOWK changes his mind.

Top notch sounding processor at fire sale cost. At this price I won't ask too many questions.

I have heard a rumor that Datasat has a new 18 gig HDMI card out for the RS20i. Anyone know anything about this? Specs? Cost? Availability?

I was told it will be available this week or next. It will be all inputs and outputs. No price info yet. I was told to check back later this week. They also said Datasat will open up Dirac like everyone else does it.

Can somebody please explain what 'open up Dirac' means? Selling it freely and not only for installers?

Exactly how everyone else does it. Since Theta doesn't make you go to a professional to use it, they said Datasat shouldn't either.

Interesting - does this mean they will be making Dirac 2 licences freely available to existing owners?
