I bought mine from https://www.ligawo.eu (through Amazon.de). So far it looks quite good?

Could you tell me how you would do 1) and 2) through the RS20?
Thanks

Hey guys - RS20i back on my short list.

Has Datasat talked about how hdcp 2.2/hdmi 2.0 will be handled. I assume some type of hardware upgrade of the hdmi card. Any timelines mentioned?

That is true but there is a very good workaround. I chose one of the unused input assign a custom name on the display, give the button the command to handle the external HDMI switch and finally let it set the input back to the needed input. This way you sacrifice an input but can use different commands with one and the same HDMI input.

I thought Auro was sending them to anyone that upgraded to Auro? I thought I had read that on the Denon threads for people paying the $200 fee. I'd reach out to them or your DS dealer.

Very happy to report I have my own Demo Disc on the way. Also I keep going back and forth testing between 11.1 and 11.1 channel (7.4). So far 11.1 is in the lead. Now I am trying to decide if I should add another Vanquish in the center of the room for the VOG. This would allow me to run 13.1 (actuall 12.1 minus the Height Center). Hmmmm back to work.

11.1 meaning 7 bed channels, 2 FH, 2 SH? and 11 meaning the same but no LFE?

I edited. I actually have two subs, and one channel dedicated to my butt kickers. I am actually doing 11.3 so to speak.

Just trying to decide if I should add a VOG. I like having the backs on and with regular 11.1 config they are off. Doing that it sounds amazing but I am matrixing the VOG channel into my Heights. I wonder if there will be improvement giving it its own dedicated speaker?

Hard to say... Those that have VOG speaker(s) like them. I do not have one. I 've heard varying reports on if there is any significant information in that channel. I elected to kepp it out but may revisit after the Atmos / DTS X updates are settled.

That said, I am awaiting the Atmos update to see if I further have to modify placement or add a speaker or two.

Thanks for your input. I decided to just get it over with and add it as close to the center of the room as I can get it. What's one more speaker at the end of the day?

Go for it! You'll not regret it. The VOG, like everything Auro is subtle but it all adds to the immersiveness!

Dear Joerod,

How do you matrix the VOG channel into your Heights? Do you select the 11.1 (7+4) output? Because I don't see the option to phantom the VOG, like this is possible with the Center Height?
I also have a 7+4 set-up with Front height speakers and 2 overhead ceilingsspeakers used as surround height.

Kind regards,
Math

Actually selecting 7+4 option opens up your Backs but takes away the T (VOG) channel. Selecting 11.1 keeps it active and will matrix it. Now if you can get to 13.1 you can have it all which is my goal. I had great expertise here on Wednesday and the gentleman here helped set up their Auro-3D demo at the show recently.

I do not have the possibility to add more speakers. But is it correct to say that you advise to select the 13.1 output preset even if there are only 11.1 speaker speakers.?

That is exactly what I am doing now and plan to continue doing (obviously) when I get the VOG added soon. I get the best of both worlds now doing it. I know it will be like the cherry on top (no pun intended) when I get the actual dedicated speaker up there.

There are suggestions that the expected new higher end Emotiva prepro will have Dirac Unison.

Here's hoping that Datasat beats them to it with an upgrade to the RS20i!

Is datasat planning on upping their channel count with an extra card?

16 channels just isn't gonna cut it for me for a device in that price range.

theta looks like they are going for some sort of outboard boxes for extra channels but they are also very pricey.

Trinnov has plenty of channels but they charge a lot for more channels (which are largely added just by software update I think).

I am assuming that both Dirac and Trinnov's room correction are going to deliver very decent results. It's not clear that this should be a major reason to choose one over the other?

Also, is datasat's HDMI/HDCP upgrade announced and what will that entail? Potential cost?

32 channels of what? It would not be 32 different channels, but 2x the same 16 channels. Each decoder outputs an entire soundtrack.

Unfortunatly the DSP architecture only allows a maximum of 16 input channels, even when daisy chained. So, if 16+ discrete input channels are required you will have to go for either the Theta or Trinnov.

That is already available.... But it only an output card.... Without a major motherboard swap the rs20i CANT process more than 16 input channels.
