Awesome news Craig. Any idea when? How much?

Looking forward to it.

Me too my friend...

So they are still crunching numbers but I think we are all going to be very happy with what they are going to charge..

They genuinely care about customer satisfaction and their dealers needs and I love this about them !!

More to come

What totally blew my mind is he told me that ATMOS for RS20i is going to be a field installable rear board..

Now maybe to the average guy this upgrade design sounds like an easy task and it sounds like something every Pre Pro should be able to do but thats not the case.

The RS20i has been around for a few years and I don't think they even knew what Atmos was when they started down the Pre Pro Design path. For them to be able to have such a major upgrade with a simple board install is incredible and the first time I have seen a Machine of this caliber be field upgradable like this..

Huge Thumbs up to Datasat for this !!

Thanks

Hi Craig, it'll certainly be interesting what Datasat decide to do. Granted it's just a firmware update, the Trinnov package is quite attractive as it includes all the immersive audio formats. It looks as though Datasat will be keeping the Atmos and DTS:X upgrade as one package and the Auro codec as a separate upgrade.

For those that don't have any of the immersive codecs, I wonder if there will be a package deal that contains all 3 codecs?

Hi Asif, I was told it was going to be one price for all 3 codecs but I was also told there was to be an official announcement 2 weeks ago yet still no news :-(

As I am using the HDMI input of my Datasat only for sound I hoped to get around the HDMI 2.0 upgrade (priced at 1.700eur) with a dual output UHD-BD player which will hopefully be offered by Oppo. Now reading this frim one of the BDA members it makes me worried that even when sound is connected to 1.4 only also the picture connected at the other HDMI OUT will be reduced in resolution:

'How likely is it that first generation 4K UHD BD players will offer twin HDMI outputs, one to link directly to an HDCP 2.2 client screen, the other to deliver audio to non HDCP 2.2 amplification?'

'Martin: "I’m not sure about that. I don’t know of any specific plans to do that by any of the manufacturers at this point. Mainly because the port that is there will negotiate with any receiving device and respond accordingly with the proper signal."

- See more at: http://www.insideci.co.uk/articles/i....tQY3WFw2.dpuf'

Now I was thinking to get an HDFURY as they are havibg quite a good early-buyers offer. Any thoughts on this?

I hope the next generation Oppo Blu-ray player will play full hi-def digital audio when both HDMI outputs are being used. . Right now, with BOTH HDMI outputs are employed, the Oppo will down rez the lossless audio.

Atmos update according to Datasat's Facebook page:

The Dolby Atmos upgrade for the RS20i is due to start shipping in October. The Dolby Atmos upgrade for the LS10 will be towards the end of the year. DTS:X should be sometime late 1st quarter next year.
