I'm thinking of doing something similar Asif so I e-mailed LegendSky about the HDFury. I asked for clarification which HDFury product would work regarding my proposed future set-up (UHD disc player > HDFury > JVC X9000 (HDMI 2.0 HDCP 2.2) and RS20i (HDMI 1.4) and their response was:

Quote:
"The hdfury integral is the only product that will allow you to use the new projector with an non 2.2 hdcp enabled receiver.
It will work without issue."
For anyone else wondering what this is:

http://www.hdfury.com/shop/splitters...60-444-600mhz/

And it comes in just a little cheaper than the £1,350 Datasat are asking for the new HDMI card

Whether the current HDMI 1.4 chipset in the RS20i will pass through unprotected 4K content I'm not sure - have you not tested this with your Sony PJ and 4K material from a HTPC or similalr Asif? In theory it should work.

One thing I think I read is that HDMI 1.4 won't be able to though,is utilise the 10bit and 12bit colour depth proposed in the UHD blu-ray spec as HDMI 1.4 is limited to 8bit I believe (don't quote me I only have a loose understanding of this stuff) - which may prevent it passing through a video signal from a future UHD blu-ray player even with the HDCP removed.

I ordered the Integrale back In June/July, it landed earlier in the week but I've not tested it. Ive got my plate full at the moment so may not get a chance to test it for a few weeks yet.

I think Gordon over on Avs has tested it with the 4k Sonys and the Rs20i with success, but only with passing audio through to the Rs20i...it's probably unlikely that it will pass the video, but I'll check it at some point and report back.

Hey Wooki, nice setup! I have the JVC RS67, the 2015 version of your soon to be released X9000. The RS67 is an excellent projector and your X9000 should be even better. What are using at the present time?

In spite of HDFury's unqualified statement I am concerned whether the RS20i will take that 4k/HDCP 1.4 video signal. I posted my concern in the HDFury thread in the Processors Forum. Still have not heard back from Datasat about the pass through.

I have learned in the meantime that my Lumagen XS will not pass through 4k/HDCP 1.4 and neither will my Darblet.

Was not familiar with the term "Asif" so I looked it in the Urban dictionary. It looks like the HDFury is more versatile than I thought.
Asif: a term used to describe the masters of the art of sexual pleasure. Trained to perfection at all sex positions and sex styles.

I though Asif was meant on the basis of '....as if...' with a suitable tone indicating scepticism needing to accompany the use of that term?

Yes, looking forward to getting the X9000 - I have the X70 currently, but JVC's new range have achieved a 50% increase in calibrated light output over last years, without affecting contrast (new light engine etc) so it should create a stunning image!

Well if the Lumagen and Darblet won't pass through 4K, it's highly unlikely that the RS20i will I would imagine.

Gentlemen, I wasn't aware that this private information relating to me was in the public domain...but yes, it's true: I'm a master in the art of providing sexual pleasure to the opposite sex

Trained to perfection in all the sexual positions and sex styles, it is an understatement if one refers to me as 'the legend'

Young Nick is also correct, when one is not servicing the ladies, one is servicing the weights at the local gym

Anyway, now we've got that out of the way, let's get back on topic! It's been hinted the Atmos card isn't far off..just a few weeks in fact.

Ill post up the 4k pass through info once I've had the chance to try it!

Good News!

Here is the reply I received from Datasat:

Quote:
We can pass 4k@24Hz

We can pass 4k@60Hz, but only 4:2:0, NOT 4:2:2 or 4:4:4

To put it another way, we support 10Gb/s not 18Gb/s. That is a limitation of the silicon on the current HSR.
Don't understand why this technically true and what the limitations mean but it sounds like the HDFury will provide a solution in the interim.

Also got a reply from HDFury in the Processor forum. I suggested they strip the active video signal and only use the 720p carrier to make the audio universally acceptable. They replied:

Quote:
We are working (and experimenting) on something like this, we will let you know our findings asap.
Seems like the Integer will be useful device while we wait for all the chips to fall.

You could try @Nyal Mellor from Acoustic Frontiers. I think he's in the bay area. From what I recall he's an authorized dealer for Datasat and has one in his showroom.

What wisdom audio speakers are you using for the ceiling. I told a guy at hifi buys (yes they reopened in Atlanta) I was considering wisdom audio and he said they don't have ceiling speakers and kef would be a better choice. Your thoughts?

My current HDMI input requrements exceed 4 and my current HDMI output requirment is 2 (one for the theater and one for the equipment room).

What video switching device are folks using who have similr issues?

What speakers are you using for your LCR and surrounds? What is your ceiling height and seating locations relative to the top-front/rear? What are your SPL requirements for the room?

They were hooked up to a 8802 with nad amps. They quoted me 3000 a piece for the 5160. By the time he was done it came up to 24k plus for the 11 speaker set up. Now I saw the same speakers at newaudiovideo.Com for half the price he quoted. The we're the rel on wall speakers. Sounded good. The new JL in wall subs were amazing. Now kef have in wall subs (thx certified) to match the system but he didn't have them. I heard the demo at hifi buys in Atlanta (yes they reopened). That was the best atmos set up I have ever heard.

If the "new" HiFiBuys business model is to compete againt internet based audio companies, good luck with that. The few HT/Audio stores (NOT Best Buy or equivalent) remaining in Atlanta (I lived there for 40 years) are successful because their business is custom install and whole house automation. Selling individual "parts" (speakers, amps, etc) may be a small part of their business but if it is the majority, they are toast (unless, of course, those "parts" are products that can not be bought internet direct like Magico, Wilson, Wisdom, etc).

I do wish them well. The original guys I worked with in the 70's (Walter, David, etc) were really good guys. Walter is still in the audio business in Hawaii.

Their prices are extremely high. I know they do cater to a select group of people. The guy tried to sell me some cryogenically frozen wall outlets for 200 bucks a piece. He said it didn't make sense to buy nice and expensive equipment if "BS" electricity is being feed to them. They were busy. I hope they do stick around.

No not really. They had a room with B&W in wall also. While they were good they had nothing on those Kefs. My plan was to go with wisdom audio insight series but they didn't have any. After hearing those Kefs don't see myself changing.

Wow, so FINALLY someone else interested in the KEF 5160/3160/200RR. I heard this setup back in April at the suggestion of @Nyal Mellor in a smallish 7.1.4 room and it sounded amazing with Atmos and sensational with 2.1 music listening. I do have some concerns that these speakers may not have quite the dynamic range of other systems such as horn loaded compression drivers and ribbons. Also the speakers may not have the SPL for those that sit further away and/or are in larger rooms - something to look closer at for those interested.

Anyway I posted in the KEF thread here and across the pond at AV Forums multiple times over the past 6 months looking for any owners. There were a couple people that had just the 5130 or 3160 in a non-Atmos setup, but no one I could find that had a full blown Atmos setup. Ideally I would like to see some more "social proof" by way of some happy owners. I wouldn't let it stop me, and I'm still considering these speakers, along with some other brands as well. Glad to see you had a great experience with it. A dealer I know also heard this setup in one of his client's rooms after an install and said it was fantastic.

You mentioned that it was the best Atmos setup you have ever heard. What other setups have you heard as a comparison?

What in-wall KEF sub are you referring to? Link please. Is it new? Either I never heard about it or it's new...

Magnolia had def tech and Martin logan set ups. The ML was nice as well. Those vanquish sounded real good. It's funny because I found myself looking up at the Vanquish a lot. The edges were as well. With that being said the kef was a 10, ML was a 7.5, def tech was a 7 maybe.
