V4 does work with hd621 but I seem to rember that it only does 5.1 HD codec not 7.1 until you go to v6.

V4 is a real deal for the $ nowadays but V6 is sweet spot used.

How about lower priced processors? Does Meridian have any plans for new models below the 861v8? Typically, I'm only interested in the flagship model but the lower priced models add stability to a company.

They have always had more than one level. There is the G series and then the reference 861: http://www.meridian-audio.com/en/collections/products/

I know about those. I mean more current stuff. G68, I believe dates back to 2005?
