Hi

I finally had a RS20i installed on Saturday. I gave up waiting on Lexicon to make an announcement on the MC12 replacement and my wife couldn't stand the ONKYO processor I had installed. I am very pleased with the results of the RS20i. One question that I did have was in the past I was able to trigger my 7 channel power amp using a cable with the Lexicon or the ONKYO. How do I do the triggering with the Datasat?

Thanks

It's a good question. I don't see that the RS20i has a 12v trigger. Strange...

BTW- How does it sound compared to the Lex MC12?

Custom cable db-25 GPIO. That's where the triggers and relays are, I believe.

Yes, no triggering on gpio.... Do not try a custom cable from this port as there is no voltage output of 12v and you could damage something in the process of trying. I would have thought you would know that dan with your Time with the unit. But as andy said, due to requests they added four to the dsp card.

I have GPIOs through our savant automation- I mistook the function to be the same. After reading that section of the manual, I see they are not. I never had to trigger amps with the prototype.

Sorry

Prometheus is the name of the cinema - so the RS20i is an update/replacement to the processor Cineramax was using previously.

Congrats yapota. As a Lexicon MC12 owner myself since 2003 I'll be following your impressions with enthusiasm as this seems to be the only worthy replacement to the Lexicon to date for my needs especially with the new Dolby/dts board. All Datasat need to due now is license Logic 7 or Quantum Logic and the RS20i would be darn near perfect biggrin.gif

If enough people email datasat and ask for logic 7 or qls to be implemented and indeed lexicon will allow then I am sure it's something we could see done.

Quad bypass from Ada is also pretty special for music. But I must admit, I have never been a fan of dts neo6 music until I got my rs20i. I now think this sounds better tha quad bypass ever did.

It's taken almost 18 months to get DD+ and PLIIz; I doubt Datasat is looking to license anything from Harman or Meridian (if they would even do that). I'm pretty sure those algorithms are their own secret sauce, I doubt they would share them.

Sorry to be a wet blanket.

RS20i certainly has a sweet sound, nice soundstage and portrays lots of space in the recording.

It would be sweet if it could making the ultimate modern processor in my eyes. L7 for music has no rival to my ears, the steering is just incredible and the adjustable paramaters allow so much flexibility. Dolby PLIIx and even THX Ultra2 stack up very well against L7 on movies.

If we look to the present and past I don't believe Harman has ever licensed L7 to an outside company so that doesn't boad well for a company like Datasat should they express interest but I guesss by the same token we don't know if any outside company has ever asked to license the tech only to be turned down.

Dan's on the money here - I just can't see it happening that Harman/Meridian would licence their proprietary technology to a competitor.

Hi

Logic 7 was pretty special and by all accounts from what i have heard or read about QLS it seems special but if Lexicon cannot deliver in what is now almost 2 years, it becomes meaningless.

I have also fund that Dirac Live, at least to my ears does a better job of room correction then what Lexicon were providing.

Technically QLS is in use today, it's in the Ferrari FF but Ferrari isn't exactly a home theater competitor for Harman smile.gif

Re: Perf screen:

Nope you must have been confused with helene or skoll both of which have 15-16 feet wide woven screens.

Carl and wife came down for calibration, as usual great results!!

Regarding the screen Prometheus has the supreme Torus screen. Lots of techniques were implemented to provide an excellent acoustical experience despite the TORUS possible installation pitfals (where the room can sound from harsh to torture chamber), this room is not one of those, by design.

Carl liked the acoustics and commented that the screen did not particularly appeared to have acoustical differences to the solid flat screen, he was impressed by the perfect corner to corner luminosity.

He can comment.

Hello all,

I must say that I did like the Prometheus theater that Peter (CINERAMAX) put together for this customer! The video was especially good, probably the best that I have seen in a home theater install.

Kudos to you Peter!

Amen to that. The very best (short of the Lexicon demo from CEDIA several years ago) I have ever heard to expanding stereo to multiple speakers. But good luck getting any companies to "share" their technology with a competitor.

Back in the very early days of the Datasat AP20/ RS20i development when we were pulling together the product features list I approached Harman about licensing Logic 7. Harman was very clear in their lack of interest to license the Logic 7 IP to any outside party. It just wasn't going to happen.
